New Yorkshire Golf Competition now Open to Enter
Added incentive for golfers who get their entry-form in early
Entries are now open for the Yorkshire Matchplay Golf Championship. The brand new knockout competition, exclusively for amateur golfers in Yorkshire, has an entry-fee of £15 for the Individual competition and £25 for the Pairs event. Both take a matchplay format played initially on a regional basis with the winners of each section progressing to the Grand Final at The Alwoodley Golf Club in September.
As an added incentive to enter the inaugural event anybody who enters before the 31st January will automatically go into a prize draw where the lucky winners will have their entry-fee returned to them in February, therefore gaining free entry into the championship.
Edward Battye, the Tournament Director for the new event, said, “With at least one round away from your home course and the opportunity to play 36 holes at Alwoodley where you will compete for some great prizes, we feel that the cost of entry is excellent value. In addition to this we are giving away a free place in both the Individual and Pairs section so that those golfers who enter early have the chance of receiving a nice little bonus.”
The closing date for the competition is the 31st March and entrants will be advised about the draw for the first round shortly after this date. The opening round is played over 36 holes on a home and away basis with subsequent matches contested over 18 holes where a draw will take place for home advantage. The winners of each region; North, East, South & West, will take their place in the climax of the championship at Alwoodley when the semi-final and final will be played.
