PowaKaddy FW3i Review

Powakaddy's most popular trolley has a had a few upgrades for 2017. The new FW3i welcomes a brand new digital screen with power gauge and battery fuel indicator. While the screen maybe the main change, most of what has made the FW3 so succesful remains the same. The powerful yet quiet 200W motor is still in evidence as are ambidextrous soft Tbar handels. Powakaddy have also employed the same folding mechanism and battery 'plug and play' system.  

So how does the new Powkaddy FW3-i stack up on the course? Golfshake's Owen Davies found out:

Looks

I love the way they have improved the chasis of the Freeway models over recent years and the 2017 version is no different, it has transformed the look of the product from what looked like a functional, but unisprising frame into a trolley that is far more sleek and desirable. It certainly has shelf appeal nowdays!

In particular I like the way the lithium battery fits into the tray. The colour coded touch points for folding up and down are pretty neat as well. 

Usbality

Powakaddy have made some great strides in recent years bringing some big improvements to consumers and this is refelected in their most recent Freeway models. For me there have been a couple of big advance over the past few years. One is the Lithium Battery. If you don't have one, get one. You will not regret it! Lighter, longer lasting and shorter charge times. A lithium battery is a must buy in my opinion. 

Secondly the trolleys are just so much more robust now. You can feel it just walking round the course. In addition the motors have more power and that really helps on the hills and when in the rough. Both of these changes are great for golfers. Yes, you might pay a little more for the advancments in tech and engineering, but you will recieve a super reliable product that lasts longer. 

Pros

A super simple trolley that does exactly what you need it do do. Solid construction and a super powerful motor make it easy and reliable to use. The new power indicator is useful. 

Cons

Does not come with the bells and whistles of other models and a usb charger would have been welcome. 

The Bottom Line

A really solid offering from PowaKaddy. It is their biggest seller, a the trolley does exactly what you need it to and not much more. You can't really go wrong with this one! The only reason it does not get 10/10 is the lack of features, but as an entry level model it is hard to beat.
