Mizuno Golf Pairs Tour 2017

By: | Tue 01 Nov 2016

Established in 2013, the Mizuno Golf Pairs Tour was created to run a series of friendly competitive golf pairs tours at “top 100” courses with a focus of playing the best courses with your golf buddies. The events provide a 'tour like' feel with the focus on playing 2 to 3 courses over 2 to 3 days.

Now in it's 4th year the tour is open to all amateur golfers, who hold a valid CONGU handicap, and entrants get to take part in quality organised events at great courses for the chance of competing and winning some great prizes at venues around the UK.

Mizuno Golf Pairs

History

The pairs events were conceived in 2013 and first held in 2014 when friends Ross Forno and Sam Maylott had the idea to organise friendly competitive golf events for golfers interested in being part of a 'traveling club' playing at some of the best courses in the UK.

The tour is unique in that whilst the events take place over 2 to 3 days playing multiple courses the team only organise the golf and golfers organise their own accommodation for the trip.

In 2016, Mizuno signed up as their title and exclusive golf sponsor to help to take the events to the next level.

2016 also saw the first finals day, which was made up of winners from the year’s events, their first trip to Scotland, and a new single day concept at Celtic Manor which had over 200 entrants.

Golfshake ambassador Andrew Picknan also took part in 2016 playing the East Anglia event, find out how he got on here.

Get involved in 2017

Moving into 2017, the Mizuno Golf Pairs have planned three multi-day events and four single days, giving more people an opportunity to play. They have also expanded and partnered with Marriott Hotels and Macdonald Hotels to run 15 days of qualifiers all round the country.

Upcoming events in 2017 include the Single Day series, West Wales tour and West Scotland tour on top of the Marriott Qualifiers and the Macdonald Qualifiers.

The the courses which have been on their itinerary in the past include Celtic Manor TwentyTen, Trump International Golf Links, Royal Porthcawl, Walton Heath Old and Royal St David’s.
