Bridgestone UK in a British Masters ticket drive

By: Golfshake Editor | Wed 28 Sep 2016

Bridgestone UK is offering lucky Golfshake readers the chance to win one of 4 pairs of tickets to this year’s British Masters supported by Sky Sports, hosted at The Grove from the 13th – 16th October.

Bridgestone’s association with the European Tour competition represents its highest profile golf based sponsorship in 2016 and will round off a memorable year, in which the company has used the sport to bring its range of premium products to life like never before.

Bridgestone’s presence at The Grove represents a significant change from more commonplace sports partnerships in the tyre industry, with the company keen to engage with a huge audience which shares the same values as the company itself – most notably respect, excellence and integrity.

In a huge boost for the European Tour event, Olympic champion Justin Rose will make his first appearance on home soil since claiming Rio gold when he joins tournament host Luke Donald.

Rose will attempt to capture his second British Masters supported by Sky Sports title following his victory at Woburn Golf Club in 2002, when he triumphed in a memorable battle with another close friend, Ian Poulter.

Bridgestone’s partnership with the British Masters as supported by Sky Sports, is the top level of a three-tiered sponsorship which included the introduction of the DriveGuard Trophy for amateur golfers and the title sponsorship of the Bridgestone Challenge at Heythrop Park at the end of August.

All three were interlinked with the winners of the DriveGuard Trophy actually playing in the pro-am at The Grove, to realise the company’s aim of engaging with players across all levels of the sport.

Founded in 1946, the British Masters supported by Sky Sports, was held every year up to 2008, except for 1984, and was played at many prestigious golf courses around the United Kingdom.

The tournament experienced a hiatus between 2009 and 2014, but returned to The European Tour’s schedule in 2015, where it was hosted by Ian Poulter at Woburn from 8 to 11 October.

The event saw young Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick claim his maiden professional title. Former World Number One Luke Donald will be this year’s tournament ambassador and has chosen The Grove to host the 2016 British Masters supported by Sky Sports.

The Grove, set in 300 acres of Hertfordshire countryside only 18 miles from central London, houses a luxury five-star hotel, golf course, spa, restaurants and extensive function space. Lovingly restored to stunning effect, the property fuses contemporary design and original period architecture with exceptionally caring and professional service.
