Jordan Spieth's Breakthrough at the John Deere in 2013
Jordan Spieth has enjoyed a remarkable young career on the PGA Tour. Having only recently turned 23, the Texan has already secured two major championships - the Masters and U.S. Open - not to mention a number of other victories, with his triumph at Colonial being just the latest back in May. It's been a stunning rise for the former world number one.
When the golf historians reflect on his legacy, they will start at the John Deere Classic as being the start of his legend. 19-years-old and without full-time status, the youngster stunned Zach Johnson and David Hearn with a hole out for eagle on the 72nd hole to join them in a playoff, which he subsequently won. It was what would become a typical Spieth moment. His ability to make something out of nothing. Quite a talent to have.
Despite being absent from this year's event as defending champion from a second win last July, the world number three's presence hangs over TPC Deere Run. This is where is truly began for a player whose finest achievement could still be yet to come.
