Effective Practice for Shot Shaping

By: Phillip Akers | Tue 20 Jun 2017 | Comments ()

For many golfers practicing on the range, they become obsessed with the technical ability and constant repetition to improve their golf swing. However Phil Akers, a senior teaching professional at the Belfry believes this can be unnecessary for most golfers and thinks shot shaping on the range will help improve shot shaping out on the course.

Using a drill which Tiger Woods used to do before most rounds, he challenges golfers to become more skillful in their practice instead of solely focusing on technical. By attempting to increase and decrease the flight of the golf ball along with shot shaping left and right Akers thinks it will allow you to control the golf ball better when out on the course.
