The following information will walk you through creating and using the competition feature.

Competition Rules

The following rules currently apply for creating and administrating a competition:

  • One user creates the competition in the golfscoretracker system and is therefore the competition administrator
  • The course selected for the competition must be already stored in the administrators favourites
  • Players can only be added to the competition that are in the administrators golf buddies list
  • The maximum number of competitors is 4. For up to 12 golfers, use the society feature
  • When the competiton is created all competitors will receive e-mail notification to accept the invitation
  • The competition scorecards can only be entered once all the competitors have accepted the competition invitation
  • Only the administrator can enter the scorecards
  • The rounds entered can be set for handicap tracking

 

Step 1

Once in your group click on "Events" in the blue tab and then "Click here to create a new competition"

Step 2

Select the scorecard from the drop down list (if t is not listed, add the course to your course favourites here) and click go.

Step 3

Select the tee being played during the Competition round

Step 4

Enter the details of the Competition.

You can currently select the Competition type to Stroke play, British Stableford or MatchPlay (2 Ball), this is for the Competition results table.

If you would like to open the event to ALL golfshake.com members, click the Public Competition box.

 

Inviting Members to Join your Competition

Finally you need to enter the competitors. The selection list will show yourself, your golf buddies and any society members if it is a society competition. Select the competitors by clicking on the name (left hand list) and then click on the 'select' button to add them to the Group (right hand list). Competitions can be edited and updated at any stage.

You can use the 'move up' and 'move down' buttons to order the group. Click submit once done.

How to create a public competition

Click here to view our guide on creating an event / Competition,  follow each step until you get to Event details. You are able to make your event a public event by ticking the box shown in red below. Any registered member of Golfshake.com can then enter your event.

 

For public competition events you can also set some limits for the competition such as maximum participants and maximum groups. You are also able to add some notes on the competition which everyone can then view. Once you reach the maximum competitors no further players will be allowed to regsiter.

Finally you are able to add any intial competitors. The selection list will show yourself, your golf buddies and any society members if it is a society competition. Competitions can be edited and updated at any stage. If you create a public competition then any new entrants will automatically be added to the next available position in the order.


Competition Administration

From the competition section you are able to view competitions you have competed in, forthcoming competitions, competitions you manage and any of the Golfshake public competitions.

The following shows an example of a golf competition that you manage.
The icon denotes a pending request that the user must accept.
As the administrator the icon allows you to accept any requests to participate in the public competitions you run. You can decline or remove someone from a competition by selecting the icon.
