I use a silver 2 & half inch tee, puts it in the air lovely & seems to add a little top spin for extra run.

Also play it right in line with my big toe. staight as a die, last years driving stats were 85 percent wow!!

I think I tee mine quite low compared to some, long drivers especially.  Equator of the ball level with the top edge of the driver.  It's also really easy to set up consistently, put the driver on the deck and stick the ball and tee in to line up with the Srixon logo.

I set up same as Tim. If I use a lower tee up I can tend to get fade.

"I think I tee mine quite low compared to some, long drivers especially."

You are quite correct Tim that most long hitters tee the ball up high, maybe 3/4 to the full ball above the face.

The idea being that it promotes an upward strike and a draw but be careful, a high tee can also allow you to get away with an over-the-top swing plane and trick you into thinking that you are just a natural fader.  I was actually recently instructed by a friend of mine who is a multiple Long Drive champion and PGA professional to tee the ball lower (half the ball same as you Tim) and work on hitting from the inside with a shallower AoA (Angle of Attack) the result, a draw and added distance even when I'm swinging at full speed.

Also, yes teeing up high will help you get the ball in the air but go to high it will also drop vertically and stop dead! try a high lofted driver with a low kick shaft and see the improvement.

I use PRIDE PROLENGTH <360cc tee's which have a yellow band around them. I have found that when i tee up, i push the tee in untill the yellow band has just disapeared, which gives me a consistant tee/ball hight for each drive. mine is middle of ball level with top of driver.

Bright pink tee. Whatever the height is, I wish they'd make a more macho version!! lol

Sorry Dave, but it's so the rest of us can point and laugh at you because you can't get the height right!

Pink tee for me too, just right for my 10.5 loft ping g15 driver. Long drivers use high tees because the loft of their drivers is very low so they need to hit up at the ball to get height. whereas if you have a more lofted driver you don't need to hit up to get height as the loft does that for you.

Basically right Adrian, but it's a bit more complicated than that....

Well, it's a bit tricky to explain but basically there is a difference between how most long drivers/pros hit a driver and the rest of us.  It's all to do with getting the correct amount of spin to get distance.  A slow swinger like me, and anywhere up to the 100mph club head speed really,  uses the loft of the club to create the lift on the ball.  This is to do with the boundary layer effect of the air over the ball in flight - a faster spinning ball effectively drags a thin layer of air (it's a fluid and therefore sticky) creating an aerofoil, so the ball creates the lift.  Therefore teeing the ball fairly low and forward reduces the spin created by the loft and acheives a rounder flight.  The long drivers however hit the ball much harder and rely on the forward flight to gain lift and the spin component only comes into play as the forward speed decays.  This can only be acheived by teeing the ball really high with a very low loft club face which results in the classic flat tragectory followed by the climb.

Be a lot easier if I could draw it....

So most of us who haven't got super fast swings should use a lower tee and a higher lofted club ! ?

I think that sums it up nicely Tim.

Basically the harder you hit the ball higher lofted drivers will give you too much backspin so you use a lower loft and strike upwards to turn say a 5* driver into 12* of launch but with only around 2000 spin.

It takes alot of practice but it is possible to hit lower lofts from normal length tees, a little less carry but awesome roll!winkhttp://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor362/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smi

It's pink castle for me. The ball seems to sit just right for my  TM burner driver. I don't know about the technicalities of low or high teeing, but if the ball looks right then you are off to a good start. I usually get a nice balance of flight height and roll. Cheers! PS. I would like the colour changed however..

I use an 8 degree driver  and normally would tee the ball with half of the ball above the club face, but I do change the height if I want to shape the shot lower for fades higher for draws and if I am hitting down wind I will tee it even higher and move the ball slightly further forward, then give it some welly and let the wind carry it out there. I do the same with my 13 degree fairway, I make sure I  move the ball slightly  further forward in my stance if I tee the ball high, but only slightly, so I can catch it more on the upswing,
