My 6 year old has decided that he wants to play golf and like any normal parent I have bought him a cheap set of clubs so he can hit a few on the range with me when I go. My question, is 6 years old to young to have group coaching sessions. My local range does it on a sat morn for about £4. Is it worth it or should I carry on letting him hit it for a year or so. I can't tell him a great deal as I don't know it myself. Please advise SDS |

Definately not too young unless that particular group has a higher minimum age requirement. Much depends on his character. Many children of that age demand your TOTAL attention and such is not possible in a group setting. But any such challenge could likely be overcome if you were allowed to attend in a supporting role. Other young children are totally wild with a poor concentration span. Only you will know whether or not your son would fit in. Possibly ask to watch a session with him before deciding? |

I agree with Sanders, Not too young at all, I started when I was about 8, truth be told, didnt really enjoy it at first be glad I was taken down every Saturday morning as a lot of what I was taught then and the years after I still take into my game now. As we all know this game is all about enjoyment! |

thanks for advice guys, will take him up for a look. I don't know if it is because he wants to copy me or enjoys hitting stuff. A little of both probably knowing him. |
