Can anyone shed some light on this for me please
In my club comp at the weekend I was restricted to a handicap of 18 when i officially play off 23 at the club. this obviously forced me to give 5 shots back to all the sub 18's. I had a good round and came 30th but if i played off 23 i would have finished 7th. can anybody tell me if there is a reason this happens or is it just my club that it happens at |

I have never came across a situation like that before, did everyone play off 18? |

No everyone played off their current handicap except those over 18 who were cut to 18 |

Clubs can impose a Maximum Handicap Allowance for some competitons, to try and protect the competition being won by a bandit. Was the competition for a Trophy or Plaque? I'd assume it wasn't a handicap qualifier as thats not allowed if competitors don't receive full allowance. |

It was the club championship and is being played over 2 sundays, each day 18 holes, the score has been posted on howdidido.com and i have been cut from 23.1 to 21.9 so i assume it is classed as a qualifier |

Ian, We also have this at my club. The main board competitions and trophy events are all limited to 18 hcap. For handicapping the system calculates any adjustments using your full handicap. Even though restrictions are made to limit to 18 because adj are used on full hcap then the comp still stands as a qualifying event. |
