The other day i played a round of golf with my mate at Brickhampton golf course. He hasn't been playing as long as myself but surely you'd expect him to know the basic rules. Here are just a few of his mistakes. 1. Teed off infront of the tee markers 2. Say my shot was behind his he would walk infront of me and play his shot. 3. He would drag his trolley across the greens and tees. 4. He would walk straight across my line when putting 5. He always left it to me to put the flag in. I told him on multiple occasions what he was doing wrong but he just ignored me. To make it worse other golfers were watching us and i was kind of embarrased to be with him. So what should i of done? Could we have been kicked off the course for his mistakes? |

Lucky that he was possibly not an angler, otherwise he may have dug a green for worms. |

you talk to him diplomatically and advise him on course etiquette, if he refuses to oblige and act accordingly then you have a choice, tell him undiplomatically and make him fully aware that he is a prat, or, put up with it and accept other golfers having words, or don't play with him and let him learn the hard way. |

spot on Colin. If he hasn'y played before you can expect a few mishaps, but once corrected if he refuses to listen - see you later mate i'll find someone else to play with who respects the game, fellow players and its courses. |

I agree. Think you did exactly the right thing having the "quiet word" whilst on the course but I would advise him that you're not prepared to play with him again unless he shows more respect for the course and other players |

Adam Show your mate this interesting thread and he may see the light. Telling someone once should be enough. Dave CAC handed Geordie |

I've spoken to him and told him that im not playing with him again unless he has a look at the rules and does everything properly. So hopefully he will or no more golf with me sunshine :D |

If I was getting rules stuff wrong or my etiquette was being appauling, I would hope and expect to be told nice and politely the first time and have it reinforced with dam good thrashing with a 5 iron the second. |

kick him to the curb and play with someone else, there's no excuse once informed. |
