I will be turning 40 in 2012, I know I don't look a day over 30 .

For this occasion I'm thinking about saving now & doing a weekend in Scotland & playing some of it's finest courses.

I'm looking at going around June / July time.

Can anybody recommend any courses & any accomodation?

Thanks.

It has to be the Old Course, Kingsbarn & Carnoustie

I'm looking at doing the Old Course next year but I want to book a deal where I get a tee time rather than turn up at 4am to see If i can join a group??

Hotels & B&B's are plentyful and reasonable considering the area.

I agree with the 3 courses mentioned, they are stunning, but add Ailsa at Turnberry to the list too.

I would base myself around Dundee/ St Andrews area, and there are good deals to be had.

I would echo the above recommendation of the Dundee / St andrews options.

It brings in options like playing the Rosemount in Blairgowrie which is a lovely course as well as courses like Crail too.

If you were thinking of going a bit further North, I played Royal Dornoch last year and I'd have to say it's simply stunning!  It's certainly not cheap, but I'm heading back there this year again.

Wayne,

I'm also looking to book via an operator as there looks as though there is going to be a group of us going.

YourGolfTravel.com are quite competitive.

There are a few that have good deals, just be wary of the total cost.

I had one operator offer me a long weekend deal with the courses I previously mentioned and it came in at £1200. I know the courses are dear (but worth it) but they were making more from the accommodation, which i could have got cheaper by going direct.

Price up the hotels and B&B seperately and see if the operator can do a deal with the courses or even try "Golf Scotland"
