Here's a strange one that happened today:

I hit my ball onto the green and then the heavens opened so we took some shelter under a tree (never a good idea!) and waited for one of our group to run to his car to get his waterproofs.

Now, when my ball initially hit the green it was fine and dry, but by the time we eventually came back out from the tree, it was sat in the middle of a puddle!

So, do I get relief for standing water or not?

Well what actually happened was this.

The player who ran off to the car park to get his wet weather gear asked me and the other player to wait for him to return before we putted out. We agreed.

As the rain came down, and we could see the green was getting waterlogged, the remaining player decided to go ahead and putt out, encouraging me to do the same. I said I'd wait as I'd agreed to.

Since I'd been given the opportunity to putt out before my ball was submerged, I agreed (grudgingly!) to play my ball from the puddle - and 3 putted!!
