Played today before the England match.

I stood on the 9th tee 3 over par, thinking to myself I just need to par this hole for my first ever 39 on the front 9. I then proceeded to pull my tee shot into the front left hand bunker. My shot out of the bunker flew over the green. I then duffed my chip back onto the green. My 4th shot was a chip to 6ft. I then 2 putted - SIX!

Never mind I thought (or words to that effect), Im swinging well, perhaps Ill have a good back 9.

The 10th at Whitehill is a 445yd par 4. I reached the middle of the green in 2 (for the first time ever) and then managed to 3 putt.

That was it - I now felt  really flat and just bogied my way home so I ended up shooting 87, one under my usual 88 instead of carding a great score.

That's golf isn't it?

You score a better than average round and you still feel frustrated about "what could have been"...

It's what drives me to get out there and play twice a week...
