Also the individually wrapped golf ball is back ! British company, Penfold Golf, have announced the re-introduction of its hand-wrapped golf balls, first launched in the 1930s.

They used to make excellent golf balls. I used them during the time they manufactureed them. I am sure they also made another ball called the Bromford as their factory was in Bromford Lane, Birmingham.

I know Chris, I recognised the road immediately, but did not think it was worthy of a topic of conversation.

The Penfolds were very good balls and I liked them very much as they also looked nice with either the hearts, clubs,diamonds and spades on them.

I still have a box of individually wrapped Dunlp 65's, though only 11 of 12 left. I won't ever play with them and they are well before my time but for some reason can't bring myself to throw them out.

They will now be a collectors item, Martin, so hang on to them.

I believe the ball was named after the 65 that Henry Cotton scored in the Open at Royal St. Georges in 1934.

Just think back to those days with that score and then wonder how skilful players of that era were.
