Hi

I played a 9 hole course yesterday and played brilliantly!

It hasnt been used towards my handciap. Is that becuase it is a 9 holer? or becuase it doesnt have a SSS?

If the latter, CAn I add a SSS to the score?

If the course you played has a SSS on the scorecard then I don't see why you cannot add it.

Russ you'd probably have to enter the whole 18 holes to add the SSS, and then if you only play 9 it would say you have an incomplete card

YOu can enter a 9 hole course and the system will prompt you for SSS if you know it.

Handicaps however are not calculated on 9 hole courses.

Not necessarily so, Ben. I can think of a couple of famous nine hoile courses which have two different tees so that an 18 hole course can be presented to the EGU for recognition as an 18 hole course for handicap purposes. Royal Worlington, Newmarket.

Royal Worlington was recently listed among the top 100 courses in Britain and Ireland, by Golf Monthly, and has the reputation of being the greatest 9-hole course in England, if not the world; Bernard Darwin described it as 'The Sacred Nine', which is the title of its history written by John Gillum in 1993 for the Club's centenary.

Secondly, Holtye Golf Club, Sussex. Another fantastic course established in 1893 of the highest quality and which one can play 18 holes ion a weekday afternoon for £12.

Both of these nine holers should be on everyones list of courses to play. I will now make an effort to go back and play both of these again sometime soon.

There must be many more like this throughout this country and all have a rated SSS.
