Madness, pointless or something else ?

The consensus is to start today and not delay   might be reading rather than any actual golf, not even sure if the ranges are open!

My 2010 Golf Challenge:

Was once able to play to lows 20s handicap but over the last 7 years due to family and work haven't really played and struggle for 6 games a year and poor handicap of 28.

Can I turn this around in 2010 and break 90 in 90 days ? Follow my progress online.

Of course you can do it, you are halfway there already with the new sound swing you have.

A little more concentration, curb the tendency to think you can hit the 100% fairway wood all the time and just think fives, as 18 of them is 90.

Good luck, Darren.

Part of the plan will be to focus heavily on the short game and meet up with a round with John

I've already sneaked 10minutes worth of tips from John which helped immensely with my driver off the tee and bunker shots.

Trying to avoid going out with me, eh, Darren?  Still, if you want to learn how to get round playing bogey golf I'm yer man! (Apparently)

Indeed Tim indeed   soon as the snow clears I will be out.  Main reason for this is to get me out playing rather than coming up with excuses and working to much!

Darren, as we seem to be in similar mindsets at the moment, I'll also be meeting up with John 'Yoda' Pettitt down in Reading area when the better weather arrives and my aim is to be a bogey golfer (h/c wise) by the end of the year - I'm sure we can meet up in the Yorkshire area for a round or two and help push each other along

Good luck with your challenge.....The 'Dream on' book you have bought, could lead to a few divorces if we all tried that challenge!

I've not started yet but have heard similar comments in regards to Dream On.

Myself I am aiming to keep realistic and not rack up a 3rd world debt in going to the range, buying kit, playing golf etc  Just some simple focus, practise of body & mind, plus play a bit more frequent.

Yep we should definately meet up, ultimately my aim is bogey golfer.  So just one extra shot per hole should seal it !    if only.

Darren, Dream on is a little harsh IMO, You more than have the capabilities to play bogey golf. You just need to put the game time in more than 6 times a year Playing regularly once a week would be a great help to you.

Playing regular golf is definitely the key, the first thing you lose is your touch around the green as well as the rustyness in your swing, but i'm sure you'll do it!

hi darren

you have been playing long enough to know it is very possible.  all you need is practice & maybe a little coaching & it wont be long before you are there.  i set myself a goal to get below the ton & did it inside three rounds.  i had some sound tuition & a good few golfers helping me to improve rapidly.  1st round ever was 133 second round 111 third round 99.  bloody good feat if i say so myself. i then set the same task as yourself. it did take me most of a whole year but managed to get there.  then went on to the eighties & a couple of times below. sadly a bad back injury put me out for six years but i am there again, similar position to you with work, family etc but this year my goal will be a sixteen handicap. i know its there but just need to make sure i put the effort in.  best of british luck to you in your quest!!
