The attached photo proves we are not all southern softies, temperature -2, and us lot,- the Tuesday Seniors Tour were out there, I don't think he'll need the rake, unless he falls backwards through the ice.

Southern softie I may be..

However...I'm not daft enough to try hitting a white ball around a snow covered golf course in sub zero conditions. No matter how much i love this game.

The poor guys hands look frozen

After hitting his shot to a foot from the pin, John quipped 'God can walk on water, but can he play golf on water as well as I can?"

Nice to see the reactions posted to this photo. We are all well in our 60's and enjoy our game, the " fresh" air, and just being out there,  better than being stuck in an office or a snowdrift!!!  David,   regarding the white ball, I watched him hit his yellow one and it seemed a photo opportunity, so said, "set it up again for the camera"

Somehow I don't think backward fishing is going to catch on!

On the coldest day in history John wasnt too upset with where his tee shot had come to land, he was just delighted that he had made it passed the ladies

My brother and myself played golf around Lingfield on Sunday, well we walked around the ice laden course hitting a few balls.  We couldn't understand why wer were the only guys in shorts when the temperature was a sweltering zero degrees.  My brother even took his jacket off after about 12 holes when the sun came out because he felt 'a bit warm'

Thats nothing! Last weekend we played 18 holes on 1½" of frozen snow in a -4°C temperature. The winner took the money, £2 each, with 35 stableford points. I got 32pts and never used my putter once!

Further feedback from John, what bad luck!

it took three phone calls and the promise of a hip flask, and a bacon roll with a bowl of chips after to get them out there. Then, by the time we got in the 19th hole was closed due to lack of customers, as you say madness !!

Big thanks to everyone that entered a caption, and thanks again to John for the picture.

The winner for this one is Chris Waterworth with a great caption of 'God can walk on water, but can he play golf on water as well as I can?"

Well done to Chris who will shortly recieve a copy of 'Top 100 Golf Courses of Britain and Ireland'

You had me guessing there, Paul, I had another look at the photo, no, it's definitely the lining of his jacket, anyway, at -2 what would you see!   a pickled walnut.

Darren, thanks for the literature, downside---- the postman is off with groin strain, upside---- no bills for a while !!!
