You can set the event up yourself, Mark. There was no individual comp for the west region last year, so perhaps you can pioneer it.

Weston, Burnham, Mendip, Clevedon or Bath would be better choices than those you mentioned. Entries will depend on the venue.

Mark, that's basically the answer.  If someone is willing to organise then there is nothing stopping it.

First choose a suitable course, a nice one. And get prices from the chosen course, based on around 12 people playing. Find out if they have a maximum number allowed to play

Then choose a date, Fridays are usually best for most people, around 11am tee off which gives time for people to get there.

Go to the Games and Events section and post the details of the event. Allow at least two or three weeks before the game to give people a chance to enter.

Make sure they pay you a deposit as soon as they register. People have a bad habit of not paying and not turning up on the day, but you still end up paying the course.

Buy some prizes. You get that back via the entry fee. Most are happy to pay around £30 to £35 for a days golf.

Hope this helps. If you need any assistance, contact me

You should be looking at around 30-40  players ideally for a GS open qualifier guys with 2 divisions 0-18 an 18 -28

Don't think you will get that many, David. Somerset is a bit too far West for most.

I know it's easy for you and Kevin, OK for John Standing and John P.

The most we have ever had for a South event is 18, other than those in the London area

Leyo you can't have 2 divisions 0-18 and 18 + it has to be 0-17.4 and 17.5+

I suspect you may only need to send out your W.M.D (James) and you'll be able to put your feet up David.

On a serious note, Santo if you have obtain scratch status , Shall we be seeing you on the seniors tour next season?

He's either played 50 odd rounds to get to scratch or he's been paid for a lesson which means he has obtained 'pro' status & therefore has to play off scratch. I'm sure Wayne will correct me if I'm wrong?
