I believe Steve Williams is at a loose end that week |

The way you play golf, Santo, it's not a 'Bagman' you need...
It's a wingman and a rear gunner |

Still no news.
Personally I think Saunton should be the next venue. Or South Winchester. But I expect it to be Staverton. Or somewhere in that local |

Played Staverton, last November, organsied Golfshake event..Darren arranged it. It hissed down with rain, strong wind, hail and then sunshine. Quite a nice course though
But i'm up for a game there, with you. Mrs Hawkins lives near there. So if that is the chosen venue, she will be out practising at every opportunity. Won't make a blind bit of difference to the outcome though. |

Staverton is an option we did play the first NvS in 2007 at Hellidon Lakes down the round. The Gtour is also visiting there in November - http://www.gtour.co.uk/golf/view/9/ North vs South stuff post here - http://www.golfshake.com/forums/view/4721/NorthvsSouth2010feedback_required.htm |

I liked Stavertton Park when I played in the gtour event there and it would be a great matchplay course. I very much doubt that Saunton would be remotely interested in having a society like ours on their course. Our members are just not fast enough players and they are used to 3 hour fourballs. |

3hour fourballs john what are they doing running to each shot? i played in a fourball at the weekend and only slightly held up on a few holes near the end, we still managed just over 4hrs and we wasnt playing that bad with the lowest score from the four was me with 30 points |

To be fair Darren if we added up all those five minute waits for the four and two ball in front of us (and stopped having a couple of extra pops at the par 3's) we could easily have knocked half an hour off that - so yeah, I reckon 3 hours is possible, especially if it was on a course that we all knew. |

Martin, we played Saunton a couple of weeks ago and I can assure you that the old members there were very quick players indeed, in fact we had to let a fourball through as we were looking for a ball. They came through and we never saw them again. On Tuesday I played at Sherfield Oaks, a fourball with David Marshall, his friend and our own moderator Russell Middleton, it took four hours. IN the afternoon myself and Russell went round the Wellington in 2 1/2 hours as a two ball. |

Are you saying I play slowly, Mr Pettitt? |

I am not saying, or inferring anything, Mr Marshall, Sir. |

He does though John |

And badly. It's because that electric trolley of his doesn't go forward. Only the left, right and back controls work. But that suits him because most of his shots go left, right or back. Rare occurence for them to go forward. |

Mr. Santorini......
There is a Lily Allen song, on You Tube, that is a PERFECT response to you. I am not at liberty to post the link here, as it would ban me permanently. All I will say is the second word, in the title is YOU The first word, is a four letter word |
![]() David MarshallHandicap : 10.2 Reply : Thu 3rd Sep 2009 12:59 |
AND THE SAME SONG APPLIES TO YOU TOO, GOVAN |
