Hello,

Recently I was given trickets for the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond and having never spectated a live golf event was wondering  whats the best way of doing it. I understand it comes accross as a really stupid question

Do i pick a player and follow them on their round or choose a spot and watch the players come in, I just want to make the most of it. Thanks in advance and sorry for the silly question

 cheers

What you will find Sem is certain high profile players will be swamped with supporters, one way I found this was to start off way down the fairway for their tee shot and then once the ball has landed get to the green for their approach shot and putt much better than scrambling for a view as they play every tee shot and trying to follow them then

Also look at the layout of the course can you get around easily on adjacent holes to watch others coming through.

Also if your there for the final day, get yourself to the 18th green early afternoon grab a seat and watch everyone finishing (I did this at the British Masters and it was brilliant).

Good luck mate and trust me you will enjoy the atmosphere.

I've attended the Scottish Open the last 2 years and still may be going up on Thursday. You'll get a list of tee-times as you go in. Theres 2 ways of doing it. 1) find a spot on the course and watch all the groups come through or 2) follow a few groups around. You'll find you won't be able to keep up with a group if you follow them as they move so fast so you'll have to workout a few shortcuts. For instance at Loch Lomond you can watch play on the first then cut through to the par 3 5th which is a fantastic hole. That starts my favourite stretch along the loch, 5th,6th,7th. Last year I saw Mickelson hole in 1 on the 5th, shame he's not there this year. If you need any help let me know.

I went down to my first event earlier this year - the European Open at London Golf Club. It was a great experience and I'll definitely be going to some other events in the next few years.

We checked out tee times to see who was playing when, then followed players we wanted to see for a few holes each, chilling out around certain greens now and again to watch a few groups play through. It will definitely help to figure out shortcuts between holes and like Wayne says, I'd recommend getting to the 18th in time to get a decent spot. We were sat in the grandstand to watch the final 10 groups or so come in and it was packed around the green by the time the last few groups were there.
