Played in my 1st captains prize at Bigbury today. I was -6 on my handicap after 9 holes. When we got to the 11th green we realised there was a complimentary drink with the captain. God only knows why but I thought it would be refreshing to hava a pint of iced magners, having not eaten all day it turned out to be a bad move....I still ended up -1, but if there was ever a 'oh what could have been' round for me it was today, gutted now but will try to be positive for the club championship in 2 weeks time....If your ever in the position i was today, do as I shall do next year, stick to a J20 or a coke :/

Our Club Captain supplied us with a bottle of beer whilst playing in an inter-club competition, never again.

I couldn't stop visiting the bushes and my game certainly went downhill from that moment.

A good friend of mine, who will remain nameless had a couple of pints with lunch between to rounds of 18 holes at Cleobury Mortimer. The change (for the worse) was staggering!!! Shanking and topping the ball and a complete blow up after 3 or 4 holes.

I find the same thing the night before a game, too much falling down water and my game really suffers.

Sorry guys but having had a drink (once) before a game I actually played better, put it down to confidence with every shot or the fact that as I knew I'd had a drink I concentrated more I don't know but I haven't done it since.

Was it because I didn't want to lower my score too much NO!!!! it was because every bloody hole I needed to Pee.

God what a nightmare that day was

To each his own. Some players play better with a little swing lube, and some play worse.

I have heard that the way they decided on 18 holes for a golf course, was that was the number of shot in a bottle. It would seem that booze and golf have been friends for a long time
