Just wondering if anybody has played The Derby at the Belfry, as i just got an email with the following offer and Dinner, Bed, Breakfast & 18 Holes on The Derby for £69 per person seems too good to be true. Is The Derby a car park ? Wanted opinions before i part with any cash Escape this summer to The Belfry and enjoy the choice of 18 holes on The Derby course or a two hour AquaSpa 'Fire and Ice' experience. Simply book an overnight stay during June, July and August, we'll even include a three course dinner in The Atrium and full English breakfast.

A few on here have played the Derby Stuart, but they do not rate it very highly... not for the price of the round anyway. From the general concesus the PGA would be a better bet. |

Stuart, Chris Perry & Paul Williams are members of the Belfry so they can give you an unbiased opinion as they have played a 3 courses. Also we had a summer comp on the PGa which over 30 members of GS attended so they can give you a verdict on the PGA. Good luck with getting an upgrade. John. |

Well, a quick update, I spoke to them this afternoon and they said i could upgrade to the PGA for £30, so Dinner, Bed, Breakfast and 18 holes on the PGA for £99. I asked them to confirm by email befor i book. They send me an email with the confirmation |

Did I read somewhere that there is a handicap limit on the PGA? If you have not done so already, Stuart, it might be wise to check. |

Hi Stuart, I'm a member at the Belfry, mainly play the P.G.A. Derby courses, but have played the Brabazon once. Not so long back they we're offering one night stay B&B and a round on the PGA & Derby for £79, or you could do the brab & derby for £99. In my opinion, the derby is the weaker of the 3 courses, it has a couple of good holes but mainly you get the "flag stick in a field feeling". The PGA is a good winter course, but the summer greens fees spoil it. Its a tough track, links style, hard but not to hard. if the winds up it make all the difference. I prefer to play on the pga more so than the others. The Brabazon, is not overly long, but the greens and pin positions we're very tough the day we played and you get to appreciate getting the ball close and stopping it as the pro's do. There's a 24 handicap limit on the pga and the brab, but i have never seen anyone asked for them, they just want cash in the tills! if asked if you played the course before by the starter just say "yes". Hope this was some help to you. Paul. |
