Hi, What insurance company do you think gives the best service, as i am about to renew, and was thinking of moving to a specialised golf insurer. Cheers |

I use Golfplan and after having my clubs stolen from my Car on Monday am pleased I do, as on my premium of £69.50 a year all my gear to the value of £2000 is covered on a New for Old basis. Thankfully they will send me a form, I send it back with a copy of the receipt for my gear and they'll reimburse me. Also on my policy I have £2.5 Million personal liability. £50,000 personal accident. £1,500 Club Fees £2,000 Accidental Property Damage £750 Personal Effects £250 Hole in One Expenses £250 Club Hire £200 Entry Fees |

Should also note there is no excess to pay on claims and no increase to premimums despite claims. |

They do Dennis as had a claim settled by them within 7 days last year when I lost some clubs playing in Spain. They really are hassle free to deal with. |

I thought your new irons weren't covered Chris |

Fortunately Wayne when I rang them they actually employed some common sense. Because I got my clubs on Friday, and therefore was unable to contact them to update my policy until Monday, they are going to cover them, upon receipt of the receipt of course. Very relieved that this company has quite a human side to it and isn't anything like the Car Insurance firm I'm trying to deal with to cover my other losses. |

Chris that is brilliant news that your covered. I have been looking to do this for a while now and I am tired of the Mrs telling me to cover my clubs. Anywho, sounds daft but are things like shoes, golf balls and everything else you carry in your bag covered?? I would probably need simialr cover to you. Do I enter the value of the clubs when I first bought them?? Such as my driver was £200 new but probably worth a fraction of that? Any help would be appreciated. |

You can cover everything on your policy Chris, Golf Shoes, Waterproofs, Umbrella, Bags, Trolleys, Clubs. When you take out the Policy you just enter where you puchased the items from and the amount you paid. So your insured for the full value of your equipment and if you have to claim its always on a new for old basis. So they won't try fobbing you off with 2nd hand values or anything like that. Also during the course of the policy should you change your equipment or add something new to your set, you just go onto the website fill in the form and they'll update your policy and send you new documents free of charge. Only time you'll get a charge is if the new items or changes take you over your £2000 cover limit then you'll have to pay a bit extra to move onto the next level of cover. |

I've got my cover through 'The Golfers Club'. There's also a host of freebies that come with cover, including 2 for 1 vouchers, which have saved me quite a lot of money in the past. As I've heard a couple of bad stories about golf club break-ins this year, where members thought their household insurance would cover them but didn't, I definitely think seperate cover is the way to go. You just have to make sure it covers them for where you usually keep your clubs - they may not be covered in the garage or a Club locker-room for instance! |

I dont have any receipts for my gear, lost all our paper receipts etc when we moved house. How would this effect the policy. Would I have to take pics or similar. Cheers for the help Mark |

Yeah same boat as Mark there. No receipts as the clubs are a few years old now. Will that be a problem? |

My understanding is that you tell them how much the old ones cost (or what replacements would cost now), and that is the cover you receive - the receipts they would need to see would be for replacements if you claimed on the insurance. In my case, Mizuno don't make the same irons now, so I'd expect to buy new clubs within the cover I've paid for, and produce those receipts to the loss adjusters. Just to add - I got my cheque through today for the hole-in-one claim, and I only sent the claim form on Monday, 2nd class (total 6 days from hitting the ace to getting a cheque through) - now that's efficient! |

Right gone with Golf Plan as Chris suggested - sounds daft but I hope I never have to use it. |
