9 of us off to Malaga next month for the week, this is our third year, the previous years we have played La Cala which is amazing, but this year we have decided to try somewhere new top of the list is Mijas with Torrequebrada next, anyone have any experience of either course and would like to offer some advice I would be most grateful.

Hi Pat. Played Mijas a couple of times now on our yearly jaunt to the Costa. Mijas has 2 courses but only played one of them once. Las Olivias we have played 3 times now and is not as demanding as La Cala and it is possibly to post a decent score even with a fuzzy head!!! Watch out for the magnificent apartments/holiday homes surrounding the course as they all appear to look over the course on every hole. Some lovely holes and a challenging par 3 completely surrounded by water. Enjoy it. Excellent food in the club house as well.

As it happens I have a few villas in Mijas which I am doing a cheap deal on duing the February half term ....

Sorry only joking .

My boss has played in Malaga several times over the years. He has mentioned La Cala before as he likes the course. I will ask him on monday if he has played any others and if so what he recommends.

Thanks a lot Chris, the warning about the Villas is a good one as I and a few of my fellow players have been known to skew a tee shot, last year I hit a satallite dish on the side of one after shanking my tee shot, one wag asked me how many points I would get for the shot lol

La Cala is a fantastic golf club boasting three seperate courses, it is very challenging though and very difficult to keep a ball in play due to the hills, my best ever tee shots were hit there but never found again

Pat , I would play Torrequebrada but give Mijas a swerve better course next to Mijas is Santana GC  far better, also Flamingos a stunning course and location. If you want something a little different   I can highly recomend Monte Mayor up in the mountians  an amaziing course.

Thanks for the advice Dave, a couple of my playing partners played Torrequebrada last year and loved it, Mijas has a special offer on at the minute, pay for a round and play as many rounds as you can on that day, parctically this will mean two rounds for the price of one for those of us dedicated enough lol I am likely to stay at the 19th after the first round as unfortunately I like my beer as much as my golf lol

The fact that Mijas has done that just endorses my thoughts on the place over others but if costs are a factor . I could not imagine playing 36 holes on tour though I'd be sat with you.

lol not a problem there Dave you would be more than welcome It's not that cost is a factor more that it seemed a good offer, we normally pre book our golf but have decided to wing it this year, our hotel has a dedicated golf counter so I'm just after peoples experience of golf in that area.
