Can anyone recommend the following courses or any others for the East Mids qualifying event?

Mapperley

Park Hill

Longcliffe

Bear in mind it will be June next year so drainage etc shouldnt be a problem.

I am a member of Mapperley and would recommend the course to anyone to play in the summer (and the winter I hasten to add)

May not be to everyones liking as there are a number of up and down holes but is a very good test of golf and the rates will be very competitive.

Games would not be able to be played on Saturdays but most days during the week are good and Sundays.

Don't know any of them but County Golfer gave Mapperley a very good review.

I can definitely recommend Longcliffe. Beautiful course, and a proper test of your golf. May be a tad tight for the higher handicappers though as there are lots of mature trees, and fairly tight fairways.

Park Hill would be ok. It is fairly long and bland in places though.

I can also recommend Lingdale, near Loughborough, Forest Hills, near Leicester, and Kilworth Springs, just off J20 M1.  All good courses, fairly forgiving, and not too snooty.

I would be happy to impart my wisdom to whoever needs it. It would be no different to going to a course that some of the other participants have played before and others have not.

At the end of the day Lee, you would ultimately decide where to hold events taking into account the recommendations of the members. I would still recommend that an event be held at mapperley as I feel it is a good test of golf and people would enjoy playing there.

Should you decide to hold an event there, I would be happy to help in any way I can - rates/packages etc

Mapperley is definately the forerunner.

I like the look of Park Hill but worried that given the length it will be more for the big hitters.

Longcliffe if a majestic course and if you havent played it then you should.

Forest Hills is my local course and is undergoing development in 2009 Stuart. They are changing the course around so I wouldnt risk playing it there.

I will take a ride up to Mapperley this weekend and have a look at the facilities etc. Thanks for the offer Martin I will take up up on it!

If you could be so kind as to get a costing and availabilty for one Sunday in June then I would appreciate the help and it would save me some petrol!!!

I will PM you my email address and tel number.
