We have a couple of front line villas and an apartment on El Valle resort in Murcia. The properties can be viewed on our new website. www.sunseasandgolf.co.uk We can advise on green fees for the course as well as the other Polaris courses in the area.

i have a group of us (about 12 at the moment). The chaps are keen for morning golf and the other halves and kids are keen for the sun and fun! Are the green fees somehow included in the rental cost?? If not how much are the local green fees please?

Many thanks

Sorry for the delay. I haven't been on the forum for some weeks, so have only just viewed your message.

The rental does not include the golf. The standard fees are currently 90 Euros per round for El Valle, but staying on the course gives you a preferential rate of 55 Euros being a residents rate. There are often special offers, such as discounts for multipal rounds, or free lunch etc. These are normally known in advance, so if you had an idea of when you would like to stay, any offers could be checked out. This is something that I could do for you. Access to the other Polaris courses in the area is convenient, with free transport being available, in case an after round drink is had! Again, offers are available for these courses at times, and the residential rate is available.

The private pool overlooking the course is ideal for the partners and children.

I can forward an info sheet to you, or anyone else for that matter, which gives details of the rates for all of the courses.

Details of our rental rates can be found by visiting www.sunseasandgolf.co.uk

If any golfshake users book a property on our site, we will give a 10% discount off our current rates. I promise, you won't be disappointed with the accommodation or the golf.

An expensive place for a golf holiday in my opinion, especially now with the pound on the floor. No golf course is worth £55.

I lived in Spain for thtree years, James, at a time when the golf scene was somewhere near normal in respect of prices. This was mainly because it was the UK golfers that started the boom in the first place and what encouraged the development along the Costas. Unfortunately the game exploded in the other European countries and with all this new money around the whole game in Europe began to price itself out of the market for the normal type player who used to support them when it all first started.

The game is now played by very wealthy people who, in the main cannot play, period. Spend five hours on a golf course and assume that everyone is enjoying themselves. Not for me I'm afraid.

This coming year will see a large correction in the rip off prices in European golf when the fairways are bare of golfers. The hotels will have to drastically drop prices and offer deals just to keep them open. A strong Euro will do their businesses no good at all.

As I mentioned, more often than not there are offers to be had, which makes the golf more affordable, if you think that 55 Euro is expensive for a good course!

As for being bored, the clubhouse wasn't open until last summer, so not sure what facilities were available when Jonny stayed there. The water park is a ten minute drive away. The beach is a 15 minute drive away, and the historical city of Murcia is a ten minute drive away, which has it's magnificent cathedral, museums, and enough shopping opportunities to deal with the most extreme retail therapy requirements!

When you're not golfing, anyone like hiking, cycling, fishing or just driving in some of the most wonderful scenery in Spain? Eating in very affordable quaint Spanish restaurants, whlilst trying out your "Spanglish" with the locals?

Bored, mmm!

Robert, the course is ok, certainly playable. The clubhouse was also fine but who goes on holiday to sit in a clubhouse?

My gripe is with the resort (if you can call it that) it's a housing estate in the middle of nowhere, it's the most un-spanish place you can visit, it's 99% english.

You quote beaches and restaraunts, but even you agree you have to hire a car to get to them. Why on earth would you do this when there are hundreds of other resorts in spain & portugal with all of this within walking distance?

The resort itself has nothing at all of interest, the bars are a rip off and the restaraunts are dire.

You have obviously tried and not enjoyed. Never mind, can't please everyone. We have had nothing but positive feedback from golfers and families alike in our first year, but we all have our own idea of what makes a good holiday destination.

I'm with you. We have a villa on La Torre.  I've now been out to the La Torre 6 or 7 times - we don't even play golf.  But the resorts are beautifully kept.  The restaurants are good - yes, a little pricey (for Spain), but then again these are 5 star resorts. We have bikes, we play tennis and then there's the pool and the sunshine. A villa holiday with a private pool is an extremely relaxing holiday - not for everyone I admit, and possibly not for every holiday - but for an occasional bout of pure relaxation when you've been working long, hard hours back here in the cold of the UK, many people will find it extremely enjoyable.  Why people feel the need to come onto forums like this and try to put someone off who was obviously considering renting your villa is beyond me.  Not everyone finds the same things enjoyable!

Rachel, you do not play golf, so are not really in a position to attempt to put someone down who is a golfer and has experienced this particular resort.

All the top Spanish resorts are well overpriced and I am quite sure that this year will see a big decline in numbers going to them.

You are an owner, one who thinks that the great british golfing public should support you in your quest to be a Spanish second home owner and expecting to get the exhorbitant sums you are desperately seeking to make the whole project viable.

Well I am afraid that the writing is on the wall and the mere fact that you deem it necessary to come onto a golf forum to advertise your properties tells me that you are in real trouble.

You are very wrong.   I have rented my villa to many types of people - far from all of them were golfers.  But all have enjoyed their stay - and are starting to re-book.

And I am not charging exhorbitant rates. Less than the price of an average hotel room for a 2 bed villa with pool.  That's not exhorbitant.

Nor am I desperate.  Nor am I in trouble. How could you possibly know.

That's my final post on this topic.

Funny how all these golf forums are filling up with people who 'invested' in La Torre and are now getting defenisve about the increasing number of negative reviews.

If your happy to come to a public place and tout your property, then you must be willing to read both good and bad reviews. And from what I have read, and from my own personal experience, the place sucks, sorry.

I am pleased that it is your final post as now we will not have to put up with your kind on this forum.

I am happy that you are still managing tp get the idiots to pay your prices, but this is all going to change for you. I see many villas unrented throughout the season, many blocks of apartment all suffering the same consequences.

If the pound stays where it is at the moment then I doubt you will do as well as you think you will.

If it can happen to the Florida second home rental crowd it can certainly happen to you.

I lived in Spain for three years and would not have dreamt of renting my villa out. But then I did not need the money to pay a mortgage.

My word, I am new to this, having joined just a few months ago, but this one certainly got everyone going, John P seems to know what he is talking about and certainly dosn't hold back, I was only looking to see where other golfers go for a short break with sun, JP you must know best golf and value for money, done Okehampton couldn't fault the value but need a bit of sun.

I went to mainland Spain last year for a family holiday (non golfing) and the prices were the same as here in the UK, so that made it expensive.

When I go abroad I want the Sun, Sand, Sea and good value for money!

Now the Euro is nearly the same as the pound the good value for money has gone out of the window.

My next holiday will be outside of the EU.

Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco are the only places nearby that still offer value for money where  sun, sand and golf are the requirement.

I still reckon that this recession will change the situation in mainland Europe, where, because of the boom times, both in earning capacity and the numer of newcomers to the game, the prices have simply gone through the roof. I can see a correction in all of this mayhem, for the better.

I can vouch for Tunisia as a cracking golf destination, but fairway grass is very different to ours as its more like bush/rough.

Great value for money, great weather all year round.

With world economy in the state that its in, this recession may have a positive effect. It will give us all a chance to start over at realistic costs, such as in the state of economies following ww11.

So as John has mention the cost of golf may get back to realistic levels, (£285 to play wentworth,Info via Santo!) Is just ridiculous. That's 6 months membership costs against 4 hours. £140 to play the Brabazon is a joke.

Golf holidays and resorts are no better, basically ripping us off because golf carries the persona of a "wealthy sport" and ignoring the ordinary golfer who is for the most part the back bone of golf 's economy.

Graham, I have always done my own arrangements as I get exactly what I want in all aspects of the holiday, the right car, the right hotel or villa and my choice of courses.

I am not saying that the package guys are bad just that I feel I can get a better deal on my own.

Where about are you staying on the resort?
