Christopher Watmore![]() Handicap : 15.9 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Tue 19th Aug 2008 11:47 To be honest I've never had a problem with any carrier of Golf Clubs. I usually always push it as much as I can. Two Sets of Clubs in one bag, shoes, waterproofs and golf balls. Never once had a problem or been charged any extra. Saved myself £15 on each flight doing it that way. |

David Marshall![]() Handicap : 9.4 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Tue 19th Aug 2008 12:33 I was thinking of leaving the clubs at home, for next years event, and just taking the gadgets.. Might stand a chance of scoring some points this time!!!!! |
Wayne Santorini![]() Handicap : 15.3 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Tue 19th Aug 2008 12:58 Don't worry Dave, Stuart thinks it's going to be easy in the Algarve he hasn't played those greens yet ![]() |
Stuart Govan![]() Handicap : 14.2 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Tue 19th Aug 2008 14:27 Ah but I have, went there on my own two years ago! And four putted them then too. The locals were really surprised to see me in blue trousers and a white top, and carrying my own clubs. They thought all British people wore garish colour combos and owned malfunctioning electric trolleys |
David Marshall![]() Handicap : 9.4 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Tue 19th Aug 2008 14:29 He has played them before Wayne....He knows exactly what they are like. Mind you...He hasn't booked his flight yet...For that matter, neither have I |
Michael Noel![]() Handicap : 15.4 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Tue 19th Aug 2008 22:52 I just flew Ryanair and asked about the weight issue and it does not count for oversize bags like sporting equip. It's already being surcharged so the weight does not matter. But it's always good to check just in case they change their minds. Also the weight restrictions on the big airlines don't really count on international flights either. It's not in the fine print, but that is what American told me when I flew back to the USA last month.
Now, if you really want to have fun, just take National Rail from London someday with your clubs! You have to put them in the front of the train and just hope that they will still be on the train when you get to St. Andrews, or even back to London. Maybe now I understand what that insurance is for.....hmmmmm. |

) and the previous 5 years I've had an allowance of 13kg for Golf Clubs, now having just checked the website they've upped it to 20kg which means I can put my shoes and balls in there now instead of my large case YIIIPPPPEEEEEEE.
