Our society plays once a month, and I struggle to play every month due to family commitments. My handicap is average at 17.6 so I play off 18. Today I played a new course and scored 30pts. The other guys averaged 31 to 20. Whats wrong you say?Well a few of us are frustrated as a couple of years ago one of our members bought his son along (he was then 13) His handicap was started at 36. Now he is 15 and bigger than me, hits the ball well, playing off the red tees. His handicap is now 31 and only going down really slowly hence today he scores 33 points. What can we do apart from hiding his clubs. We've got another three years of him being a junior and he's only getting better.

What would you do?

I cannot see why you are complaining, after all, this young man is still not playing to his 31 handicap by scoring 33 points. The fact that he is playing nearer to his handicap than you is irrelevant.

What would I do? I would attempt to improve my own game, after all you have no control over the performance of others.

I would only ask one question, why is any Boy regardless of age playing from the Red Tees? These much like Yorkies are only for Girls. Get him moved back to the Yellow Tees like the rest of you blokes are playing from.

I totally agree with you Chris.

My son was playing off the mens tees when he stared playing golf aged  11....There was no way he would play of the ladies tees, even if he was asked to do so.

Mind you...There are a few on here who don't even reach the ladies tees after 2 shots anyway

Actually, John, you weren't even on that list at all.

You are on, the might reach the start of the fairway, if your lucky list.

john, with regards to your first comment. you are bang on the money! a quote from a dear friend of mine always comes to hand" no matter whom you tee off with, you're not playing them, but the course!" which leads to " it is up to me to progress".

dave, i wouldn't worry about it the boy, he's probably dreading the day the society make him play off the yellow's more than your worried about him! let him enjoy his glory.. the old saying" give them enough rope". and if he continues to do well of the yellow's,  then the lad deserves it!, and you  should be the first to congratulate him! IMO.

regards paul

What's the problem? 33 points means he isn't playing to handicap.

Must be a pretty honest society if your moaning about somene shooting 33 points.

Thats magic - a youngster getting the better of other society members.

What would our society do - well, encourage him during the round and afterwards maybe a touch of club house banditry banter...
