| Virtual Open - nearly there! | |
Tim Hawkins![]() Handicap : 21.5 Location : ![]() Posts : | Posted : Fri 1st Aug 2008 18:18 So, had a look on the virtual open leader board to see how close I am to winning a putter, make it easy for Darren because I don't live far from him and could pick it up and save him the postage. After a few minutes of scrolling down finally found myself in mid-table mediocrity - 297th! So all I need to do to get in with a shout (with my 21 handicap) is to get an easily achievable 52 points. On my calculations a 7 over par 79 (nett 58) at the Golfshake open should just about clinch it! |

Tim Hawkins![]() Handicap : 21.5 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Sat 2nd Aug 2008 08:34 Dunno, but the highest I've ever got is 43 when Golfshake was still sorting my handicap out back in the day. Best lately was 39, just one of those days when I couldn't miss. There's a couple of 52's and even a 61 on the virtual leaderboard! Still think Darren should organise a comp for all the leaderboard front runners, I'd gladly chip in a couple of quid to see a 28 handicapper hit every fairway and green in reg and then do 1.44 putts per hole..... |
David Marshall![]() Handicap : 9.3 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Sat 2nd Aug 2008 10:54 The very best genuine Stableford points I got was 51. This was about 3 years ago, when I started playing golf again after a six year break from the game. My club handicap was then set at 16, after having played 5 competition rounds. I played in a Society match, organised by a company I used to buy supplies from. Somehow, goodnes alone knows how, I managed to go round 3 over gross. I also won longest drive and nearest the pin all in the same day. Needless to say, I took some severe flack for that. The next year I went back to their next event, then playing off 12 and came second with 43 points. This was done playing on The Parkland course at Canford Magna in Bournemouth. 6500 yard Par 71 SSS 71
Oh, and by the way Tim..You are still dreaming if you think you will beat me...So no satisfaction there for you I am sorry to say. |
Stuart Govan![]() Handicap : 14.2 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Sat 2nd Aug 2008 14:12 My best was 41 and was not that long ago at Sherfield Oaks when John P sorted out my swing and my putter was hot. I was playing ridiculous golf though, hitting flags from 100 yards out and stuff. Haven't come close since. Embarrassingly it was the Seniors Roll Up at John's club and I came along and took all the money!

John Pettitt![]() Handicap : 13.5 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Sat 2nd Aug 2008 14:55 I remember it well, Stuart. |
David Marshall![]() Handicap : 9.3 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Sat 2nd Aug 2008 15:27 Then a few weeks later along came my son...I think you know what happened there! And you still owe me Govan....The interest on the money is rolling up and up |
Stuart Govan![]() Handicap : 14.2 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Sat 2nd Aug 2008 16:13 I suppose you need the money for petrol because it's not economical driving at 30mph? Collect the money off Wayne. He owes me big time because the sod didn't turn up and I had to suffer 18 holes with you. That's worth a hell of a lot more than a quid, although I suppose I got the cheapest golf lesson ever watching your son. Yeah, on reflection I'll let you off and we'll call it quits... |
David Marshall![]() Handicap : 9.3 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Sat 2nd Aug 2008 16:22 Better idea.....You can buy me a meal in the Algarve, next year. And by the way...It's £3 you owe.....Blame Mr Pettitt...Not me...He wanted high stakes game

Stuart Govan![]() Handicap : 14.2 Location : ![]() Posts : | Reply : Sat 2nd Aug 2008 16:50 I'm sure we'll be down at John's club before the Algarve, so how about I buy you half a bucket of range balls? Or failing that a small orange juice. £3 should just about cover it. |
