My daughter has a laptop which she has put her (and mine) user account on. Of course she has also put a password on her user account.

Then of course she forgets the password.

I am the main user account and try as I might I cannot delete her account from the system.

Is there any way I can do this or if not will this account of hers in anyway harm the running of the machine..

Would a complete reboot do it or doing a reset to an earlier date do it..

Thanks for any help, tips or financial offers for my child,,,

XP Home, XP Professional, a Windows Vista derivative, or some Apple Mac looking thing?

Robbie, carry out the following actions: -

1. Open window

2. Lift laptop

3. Throw laptop out of window

4. Call daughter into room

5. Upon arrival, push daughter out of same window.

6. Close window

I think you will find that this not only solves all your problems, but you will have more money and be less stressed.

Robbie,

If it's XP & you are the administrator you should be able to look in the control panel & there's something like ACCOUNTs (or similar), here you should be able to reset, delete or create new account.

If this doesn't work do what I always do & GOOGLE, my latest search is "How can I stop the golf ball from slicing?"

 John.

Maybe you should stop blaming your "it's not the one I was fitted for" driver.....

Cheers Guy's

I am told that my daughter has solved the problem whilst I am at work...

Now this could mean anything from fixed to b*ggered...

If she hasn't fixed it, Robbie, then may I suggest you do the following:

  • Click the Start button
  • Click "Run"
  • In the "Open" field, type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes)
  • Click ok

Windows opens a user accounts dialog. Select the user with the lost password and click the "Reset Password" button. Enter a new password (and a second time in the confirmation box) and click ok. Click ok once again and you are ready.

Now you can log on to your account using the new password.

Nice one.  I've now learned something new today!

What a great site.  A combination of Golf and IT.

I wonder what other control shortcuts there are?

there are loads of control shortcuts, but just be careful, some of my customers like playing with them... mind you, it keeps me in a job
