Just for a laugh, I'm going to record how long my new shiny balls last!

So, 12 lovely Srixon balls are lying in my bag as of today - lets see if they last the summer!

Why dont we have a sweepstake on how many hits its takes for Dave to loose all his new Srixons. Not wanting to judge Dave or cast aspersions on golf ability but ill go first with 864 shots.

Higher or lower anybody?

mainly because i have a habit of losing balls left and right.

Are you a high handicapper cos you dont hit it far or cos you hit it far but wide?

Assuming we're not including air shots or putts then I'll go for 12.

Hope they last longer than the last dozen AD333's I had, they got knicked from my car this afternoon along with my old, scabby golf shoes.  Hope they catch something bad off them.

Luckily none of my other kit was in there.

They had CCTV in this car park, that's why they only got away with the balls and shoes, but picked up 3 dozen more AD333's for £36 today, old golf shoes were probably worth more in medical research value than retail, and only £450 for new lock and key set!

I'm going to guess at 726!

I'm going to go long with a prediction of 1300.  Having checked out the card for the pitch and putt course Dave normally plays I don't believe it will be easy to lose balls there.  Unless they all end up on little plinths on his mantlepiece from the rash of eagles and hole in ones he must get.

I'll have you know that Perdiswell Park is a challenging course for us high handicappers!! And the rough is ,well, rough - if you know what I mean!

P.S. I'd reccommend that the closing date should be 12noon Tuesday 24th June, cos that's when I'm playing next.

How about one of my spare balls as the prize for fun? A dirty, scratched, range ball could be yours!! (P+P included)

Based on the 4 lost balls for 110 shots I guess were looking somewhere in the region of 330 shots to consume the lot.

Blaine might soon (much sooner than many of us thought ) be the proud owner of one of Daves old balls

Tim its got to be written in the stars and superstition this game of golf. 

Went out today and hit three lovely high approach shots into the front of the green only to watch them all go through the green into nasty tufty rough. 

Also today, thinned two seven irons from 150 yards all along the turf to watch them bobble on the green, one of them to within 6 foot of the hole.

Dave when's the next round or are you still licking your wounds?

Try naming them Dave. You know how on TV people cant kill chickens and pigs cos they give them names and become attached to them - maybe if you named your balls (insert joke here!) you would become more attached and not lose them.

Just need to think of a nice name...

Put all the names into a hat and first four out are the first four lost balls.  Everyone else gets one of the ones that are left. 

Update!!!

Played 50 shots today (on a 9 hole course) and didn't lose a ball!! I think I may have found the lucky one!

So, 160 shots so far, 8 balls left.

Drawn the names - Apologies to - Colin, Lee, Paul and Steve! I've lost your balls already!

The 8 balls left each have the name of the remaining players scrawled on them (one per ball, obviously).

I'm going to have to start going round without taking many balls.  Only had 4 in my bag when I went out on Saturday, so I borrow some just in case.  Borrowed 3.  Ended up coming back with 9 or 10 balls. 

Pleasing to know that there are generous folk out there who want to leave me their unwanted balls in the areas that I hit mine to.  Bless ya.  One guy even left me a ProV1, but I felt that was a little too much, so after a couple of holes I put that back into a place for someone else to have.  A nice little prize for avoiding the fairway.

Ah but did he go round using only his putter and a chipper !

Another 18 holes and...........didn't lose a ball! I'm playing with "Danny" at the moment and whilst my scores are going in the wrong direction, I've still got 8 Srixons left!

So, 111 shots played today (not laughing at the back please) means current total is:

271 (8 balls remaining)

Hang on a minute, that means you've only got about 5 rounds to go to lose them all or I don't win!!!  Best you start playing a couple of courses with lots of water and deep rough. 

You gonna come to the next High Handicap comp Dave?

I would love to Chris, but weekends are difficult for me at the moment so I can't make the upcoming one.

Can't do next week - or any evenings really Chris (I work alternative day/evening shifts, so the wife cherishes our evenings together - no comments please!) so I'm really only available every other week in the mornings.

So, how are you fixed week beginning 21st July? Any weekday should be good for me.

And I weigh 11stone for your information - thats middleweight I think.

Perhaps Dave should join us on 25th July....

We could lay bets on how many he would lose around that course!

Right ho - another update! Played this morning - 18 holes scored 95 (my fourth lowest score ever!) and................didn't lose a ball. "Danny" is doing me proud.

So current tally is:

366 shots - with 8 balls remaining.

You've definitely found the lucky ball.  Keep it in a lead lined boxed nestled in cotton wool between rounds to stop the luck dispersing into the atmosphere and don't clean it with water as it will become magnatised to ponds and lakes. 

Played 9 holes with my son, Dan, this morning - and "Danny" came too!

47 shots and Danny's still in my bag!

You seem to have omitted my prediction of 1300 which was in before the deadline.  See Sat 21 june 22:51.  I'm feeling fairly confident now the average is above 100 shots per ball.

Keep it going Dave, sounds like you're maybe playing better now your concentrating on not losing your ball??  94 the other day sounds a good effort, well done.

I hope if you've got around (or when you get around) to using the ball with my name on that you spanked it straight into some deep water to pay me back for predicting such a low score??  (In fairness I was trying to be clever by using a "The Price Is Right" tactic of bidding low - you can be as much as you like under, but not a penny over!!
