Playing at the Belfry this week, first time!

Posted by: user663809 | Mon 9th Nov 2015 10:08 | Last Reply

Hey everyone, hope this is the right place to put this post, first post!!

I am playing at teh Belfry this week, (one round on Derby, one round on Brabazon), and really excited.

However, also a little nervous as i have never played a club that impressive. Has anyone played it that could give me a couple of pointers maybe please?

I am 29, no official handicap but i would say around 18 as bounce between pars and bogies.

And nice to have first post. Hey everyone!!

Hi there Anthony. Haven't played there but watched many times on TV. Would enjoy reading an update of how you got on. Enjoy yourself, I'm very envious. P.S. Welcome to the forum.

Anthony. Have played there many times, in fact it was probably my first major course. Just enjoy the place, it has an atmosphere that's hard to describe.

The Derby is a good little course, nothing special but usually in decent condition - in my opinion the PGA is better but certainly a lot tougher. The Brabazon divides opinion, some people think it's overrated but personally I love it. Some lovely holes and some not so interesting, but the greens are true and quick (although they may be relatively slow this time of year).

Main thing is just enjoy it - and take lots of cash....
