SH Don't worry about Wayne. He may look like a bumbling old fool, but underneath he really is a bumbling old fool. The only way to try a driver really is to get onto a range or course and smack a few balls. Nothing on a simulator comes close.

i've never bought a single club b4, how will they let me test it out? this is the bit i'm worried about, testing it in the store and it feeling fine then gettin out on the course and it being a pile of dump lol |

Depends what facilities you've got around you. We're lucky because we have a huge pro-shop at a nearby course with a driving range, they tape the clubs up and let you loose. If you go to one of the golf barns they've usually got an electronic range, they'll probably tape a few clubs up even if they don't do an analysis. Try as many as they let you, if possible the same make and model with a regular and a stiff shaft. Some just feel better than others and thats all you can really go on at the moment. Before they persuade you to buy it get called away urgently and then find the same model miles cheaper on the net. |

well the current driver that i use isnt a stiff one, and i think thats why i dont like it, the club i borrow off my golf partner feels more solid so i think that'll be a stiff shaft. I'll try as many as i can b4 they kick me out :D there's a driving range above the store or at the side of the store i'm not too sure but there's definately one there. thanks for your help guys |

Nothing wrong with the FX9 Mr Hoops, got one myself, goes well, good shaft, plenty long enough and due to me being a bit tight it's right in my price bracket... |

It's a strange thing this golf. When you first start you worry about how you'll play against other people, the embarassement of the scuffed first tee shot, the general feeling that you aren't good enough and worrying about asking golf shops for help. Then you give up caring and just neck it out, I wouldn't think twice about asking to try every club in a shop and not buying them, you just get used to it. It's a competetive market out there... |

Tim...You should definately keep worrying about the first bit |

Having said that, you ought to give a Big Ben CS3 a shot. Only £60 on e-bay, top notch shaft and they are LOUD. |

lol cheers guy's i'll try out a few clubs, even one's out of my price bracket just to see how they are. On sunday when i played my first 18 holer we got to the tee and there was no1 behind us so i thought YES!!. then just as i stepped onto the tee a group of 8 guys walked up and i just bottled it, wasnt a bad tee shot but the next few shots i was just rushin because i didnt want to piss off the guys behind (who looked like they knew what they were doing) just felt well outta place there. |
