Do you use a tee peg when on a par 3 when using an iron? Dave CAC handed Geordie.

I use a tiny orange castle tee which basically gives me a perfect lie. You can barely tell the ball is on it it's so small.

i always use a tee on par 3s, why not make life as easy as possible for yourself. A tee gives you the perfect lie so why not. I can still strike down on the ball to impart spin with the short irons and sweep the ball more with longer irons. for me its a no brainer !!!

Yes. According to Jack Nicklaus you should use every advantage to can to get a decent lie. He knows a thing or two about golf, I follow his advice.

I also use a small Orange Castle Tee as mentioned earlier in this thread by Mr Oliver. A tee will give you an advantage, I will take any help I can get!!!!

I tend to use them on longer par 3's - anything over 150 yards I will, anything less I won't.

We all have to take pot luck on the lie of a ball on the fairway and we all seem to be able to manage, so placing a ball on a selected spot on a tee is no different. I only ever use a tee when the teeing ground is sparse or rock hard.

Depends on the length of the hole and the type of shot I want to play.

I use an orange castle tee as it gives me a clean hit.

I usually use a broken wooden tee and leave it a fingers width above the ground. For the same reasons as the rest - it gives you an advantage and I need all I can get!

i tend to use a tee and then tee it up a bit or right down depending on whether i want to take a few yards off the carry.

Yes Jack Niklaus is mentioned. He did say why deprive yourself of the perfect lie, though some of the lower handicappers do like to feel the 'turf first' and have such precision of turf to ball contact with a purity of strike that using a tee woud effectively change the whole dynamic of the shot, effectively, if they tee it up, the ball is further up the club face than they would lik resulting in a loss of control.

I don't consider a ball on a tee as a perfect lie, because an adjustment has to made for the different ball, position when compared to a normal fairway shot.

Patrick, I don't know anyone who is able to hit a perfect iron shot by taking the turf first.

I am great at hitting the turf first - if it resulted in a better shot I would be an awesome player. Sadly it usually leads to a 50 yard nob down the fairway (club dependant)
