Dundonald Golf Course

Formerly known as Southern Gailes, this superb new course sits in prime links land adjacent to Western Gailes with Glasgow Gailes to the north and Kilmarnock Brassie to the south. It has been hailed as an equal to Kingsbarns and unsurprisingly, was designed by Kyle Phillips. A classic links, it has been recognised as one of the best new courses in the world (Robb Report 2004). Phillips? aim was to create a championship course that played and felt like an old rediscovered course and most observers believe he's accomplished this.

Location

Location: From Glasgow, take the M77 south towards Kilmarnock/Ayr. At the Dutchhouse Roundabout, follow signs for the A78 Irvine. Head north on the A78 towards Irvine for 5 miles and at the next roundabout take the second exit on the left. The entrance to Dundonald Links is half a mile along on the left hand side. From Prestwick Airport, take the A78 towards Irvine and after 5 miles on this road at the first roundabout take the second exit on the left. The entrance to Dundonald Links is half a mile along on the left hand side.

Fantastic layout and some great holes.
As good as any links course i have played and the condition was 1st class.

Golf course review of Dundonald Golf Course
Dundonald is a stunning links course in the heart of Ayrshire golf country. There is not a poor hole on this course which is in superb condition. The only problem was water in the bunkers although that wasn't surprising considering the deluge experienced through October. Great views across the Firth of Clyde towards Arran and Ailsa Craig make this an unforgettable golfing experience
