What the club says: The Cromwell A 6,087 yard, par 70 Course offering marvelous views across the rolling Huntingdonshire countryside. It is a more forgiving golf course and offers light relief after the Abbotsley for the less experienced player.

Reasonable value for money at £20 a midweek round.
The condition of the course was poor but the condition of the fairways can be forgiven due to the hot dry summer but there would be no real excuse for the greens, tees and bunkers.
The greens were littered with pitch marks but that’s just down to poor players not respecting the course. Several greens had 2 to 3cm holes caused by I know not what but could have easily repaired.
Some tees boxes were not level and in really poor condition.
The bunkers were not maintained at all and had more weeds than sand.
The course layout was very unimaginative with several par 4s just going up and down parallel to each other making one hole indistinguishable from another.
The facilities were poor also, no pro shop just a few items of basics on sale in a room in the hotel bar.
We finished our round at 4.30pm, looking forward to a pint and something to eat in the bar but it was shut !!!
I’m sorry but I will not be returning as there are two other clubs close by.

Good back-up

The main Abbotsley course has been vandalised and is out of action until 2018. We weren't told this when booking and were disappointed to be on the Cromwell. It is not a particularly interesting course, but does have some challenges around the greens and both the fairways and the greens were in good nick. Extremely quiet on a Monday afternoon when we visited.

Decent course, some interesting holes. Tee boxes quite uneven. Very few bunkers have a decent amount of sand in, mostly a powdering of sand over a soil/clay base.

For the time of year the course is in good condition and all greens are open and OK.

Good course for beginners. Perhaps not challenging enough for players of higher ability.

Course in good condition, some bunkers could do with more sand.

Greens are in really good condition and best aspect about this course. The bunkers do not have much sand in them and what sand there is looks like it comes from a building site rather than sand for a golf course. The Cromwell is the cheaper course so have to make some allowances. Teeing off at 10.30 no one in the hut again to pay which means a traipse over to main bar.

Good points Are well cared for fairways and general course conditions. Friendly staff and warm welcome.
Bad points- Some of the putting greens let this particular course down and the holes seem a little too similar and without any real signature whole.

Forgiving course for a high handicapper. Considerate staff for a solo player trying to ensure they don't get blocked behind larger groups.
