Rowallan Castle Golf Course
Kilmaurs, Ayrshire, KA3 2LP United Kingdom
Set in 600 acres of one of Scotland’s most glorious country estates, Rowallan boasts two of the finest castles in the land. Generations have been enchanted by the 13th century castle, birthplace of Elizabeth Muir the mother of Robert II, the first Stewart king of Scotland, with its distinctive sweeping staircase and manicured lawns.
Stretching to 7000 yards from the Championship tees Rowallan is a modern classic, to compliment Ayrshire’s existing golfing gems, from Prestwick, the birthplace of the Open, to Royal Troon, and the 2009 Open Championship venue Turnberry. Book a Tee Time

the best drive into a course in britain?quite possibly, it is absolutely majestic.
as for the course, well worth playing. long, tough and punishing but some holes are magnificent. the par 3's are sublime, more so on the front 9. the shorter par 4's read easy on paper but in reality can be either be rewarding or club snappingly annoying.
if your good at fairway bunker shots you will love this course, some of them are fiendishly placed and tough to get out.
the greens were amazing the twice i played there in different conditions. very true and nicely paced.
the bad bits, some holes feel a little uninspired and you can see the signature 19th hole far enough after slogging round this long course. the pylon in the middle of the fairway is a little mind boggling but drainagae seems to be the main problem. The course was soaking wet even after only moderate weather, very squelchy and hard to judge how to strike the ball. but it is a new course.....
overall worth it if you get a good offer, great scenery and some fantastic holes
