Oceānico Faldo Golf Course
Amendoeira Golf Resort, Algarve, Faro, 8365-023 Alcantarilha Portugal
Opened in 2008 and designed by Nick Faldo with strategic play in mind this 6,604 meters par72 championship course demands careful positioning to score well.
In a modern twist of a traditional recipe, cacti and wild herbs replace the role of Sunningdales heather, spartan Holm oaks and ancient olive trees take the place of a lush English woodland, and desert scrub bunkers of crushed limestone replace Berkshires sandy tracts in a golf course that revels in the classic principles of strategic play.Book a Tee Time

Great Course, but tough. Bit expensive but well worth it.

The staff were very friendly and the facilities were amazing. I paid 66 euro for the round on the summer special. Here are some notes
* I found the course hard to find, not many signs leading into the grounds
* 8 back nine extremely hilly, you definitely need a buggy
* the course is lush and the outskirts feel like you are in a desert, which is different
* I enjoyed the 18th hole, really good feeling walking up to the green
* quite a bit of distance between some of the greens so you need to be prepared
*
I have this to be great value for money and tremendous day out. The bar was just as impressive and not overly pricey.

As the first review, one of the best courses I have played. Of course you have to be very very careful on tee to green, but once on the green it is easily a 4 putt. For the average golfer, a par is fantastic, bogey golf is excellent, double bogey is good. The green's are like glass, but whatever your handicap, if you can walk away with 25 to 30 points you have had a great game.

One of the best courses i have ever played. There is danger on every shot you play, which really makes you have to think about what you need to do.
Very windy on the day we played it, but all of us thought it was magnificent. We will be back again next year.

Big test, I didn't enjoy it (it was very windy which didn't help) the design didn't flow, buggies are compulsory and the buggy paths mean you are always carrying clubs across the fairways and doubling back it just doesn't flow right and makes getting any rhythm into your game difficult and you need all the help you can get for this challenging course. Red tees are forward (we missed one red tee as it was hidden) and the holes are very different from them, the marker posts are set up for the white tee's and can be misleading if you don't know the course or have a course guide.

Got to mirror other review, this is a tough course which Sir Nick has tricked up. Hard greens with great run off gullies surrounding, that catch the errant approach. You have to have your A game here to score. However, for a young course it is in great nick.
I just hope you get to play it without wind, otherwise it's a definate card wrecker !!

This is the toughest course i have played in a long time! The layout and the views are stunning. Course in great condition. However in a group of 24 only 2 players scored over 30 points. not for the fainthearted or people looking to protect handicaps. Oh and dont try to walk. Buggies should be included in price. Play the Oconnor course much more forgiving and flatter
