What the club says: Port Glasgow Golf Club (designed by James Braid) was founded in 1895 initially as a 9 hole course before being expanded to 18 holes (par 64) in 1920. It remained that way for 54 years until in 1974 was expanded to include “The Field” adding 5 holes …the 5th, 6th, 7th,8th and 9th and therefore allowing many of the original 18 to be redesigned and lengthened into a new layout which remains to this days. A splendid little golfing secret situated some 22 miles west of Glasgow. A varied moorland course, "The Port" provides spectacular and enchanting views of the Firth of Clyde and the rolling farm lands which surrounds it.

Tough course

Tough course and could do with some re-designing to make it easier for the amateur golfer, either by reducing the length of some of the Par 3's or by extending the yardage of them to make them Par 4's. A fantastic signature hole to end the round with, thank god the wind wasn't blowing LOL

Would highly recommend a visit to PGGC. Very friendly club and we were made to feel welcome by everyone. It\'s a nice change to visit a club where you don\'t feel like you are upsetting the members routine. Great day out and the course, especially the greens, was in fantastic condition.

Played a few times this season on the great £10 a round deal on Monday and Tuesdays. On my recent visit I have been informed that this has now been extended to full midweek.

Hard 2nd hole up the hill but opens out into a very challanging course. Views are spectacular and on a good day can see for miles. course varies with the newer section out the back and offers a enjoyable game of golf. Par any of the last two holes and you are doing well.

18th finish is one of the best in the area. Members and staff helpful. Buggy is also great to get around.

Will be back again and again. Definetly worth the £10.

Very friendly welcome. Greens in really good shape for April. Superb views. Ask for Strokesaver booklet, really helps for frequent blind shots. Lots of uphill, downhill, some quite steep - good exercise, or take a buggy. Our three-ball was unanimous in saying that we will be back for another visit.
