North Weald Golf Club
Rayley Lane, North Weald, Essex, CM16 6AR United Kingdom

Since then the course has undergone extensive modifications including drainage and additional tees.
The sand-based tees and greens, all built to USGA specifications allow the course to be played all year.
The 14-bay covered driving range, chipping green and practice bunker along with the two tiered putting green prepare you for the conditions on the courseBook a Tee Time

Played as part of a society day on March 27; first time at North Weald. Course played very well and looked in very good condition. All holes were quite a challenge and some of the greens were undulating!

Held up well through the winter and a joy to play. Good variety, quite forgiving fairways made a challenge by good placement of hazards. Will definately be back!

I played this course a year or so ago and it was in a bad way. Wanted to write another review after playing today as all the work has finished and in a much better condition. The round today was hard as there was a lot of overnight rain but that cant be helped.
Much Much better. £15 twilight after 11am is perfect

Excellent greens - large with lots of contours. Course was a bit wet today due to lots of heavy rain the past couple of days, but still very playable. Good variety of hole layouts and well positioned bunkers.

I played the course for the first time yesterday in 30 degree heat.
Despite the work going on with landscaping etc. The tees are in excellent condition as are the greens.
The course has more sand than Brighton beach, i spent some time in it! Some of the recently landscaped rough is very hard and tufty and the free drops from some of it are welcome. In the heat a bad shot on the fairway can still run and run, which makes it hard to stop the ball on the green due to your approach speed.
The greens were soft supple even in the heat, so supple that unrepaired pitch marks were a plenty, and have some great multi level aspects which often make for minimum two putting.
After having played on a shorter, virtually bunkerless, course the last couple of years, i'm going to join this one to improve my accuracy on a longer course with more hazards and so hopefully play better on the other courses i may play in the year.

Played a couple of times on the £ 13 after 2pm at a weekend green fee. Alot of landscape work is going on, but cannot fault the conditions of the tees/fairways/greens. The fact it is G.U.R. you get a free drop. Good warm up area, and some good holes, some very narrow, while others quite forgiving.

Lots of spoil dumping going on resulting in too many free drops from ground apparently 'undergoing landscaping'. 2nd & 3rd holes might as well be on a building site.Large weed covered earth mounds separate the fairways on some others. on the plus side the greens were very good and the bunkers although they look 'puddingy'with too many small stones are superb to play out of.

played as part of a charity golf day. The coaching was great, putting green and chipping green are really good. driving range is being worked so limited to which clubs you could use. Greens were in very good condition. The club is nearing the end of a three year period of building work. It is looking good in parts and now just needs the seeding to take to push the course forward. Once this is complete I would think that the course will be rated Excellent to very good. Very friendly members. I will look forward to going back to this course.

Nice course but quite open in most places. Give it another few years and it will allow trees to be a bit more mature and I think make it an excellent course

When I played the course the pro shop only had a fee balls etc in it and we were not able to get anything to eat after our round.
the course itself is open and would suit the higher handicapper. Fair ways were not in that good a condition.

"Frost holes" on the greens when last played. In most cases these were right on the edge of the putting surface, in others they were actually off the surface completely. not good.
