El Chaparral Golf Club
El Chaparral is an 18 hole golf course which sweeps along the undulating coastline of Mijas Costa, approximately 20 minutes drive from Malaga. Spanish architect Pepe Gancedo who also created two other courses in the area designed this course to perfection.
The course and Clubhouse are unique on the Costa del Sol. Practically every hole overlooks the sea, and the nature of the terrain and hundreds of pine forests means that no two holes are alike. There are six par 3s, six par 4s and six par 5s and is a superb and challenging course to play.Contact Information

No buggies on course rule ruins the day every time - all you do is walk round with three or four clubs in your hand. Otherwise, decent course murdered by over watering.

El Chaparral was a very challenging course and suited for low handicappers and not the mid, high and beginners that we were. So many holes were blind with little visibility of flags and hazards. The scorecard was useless with no diagrams and yardage in meters. The greens and fairways were excellent (partly due to no buggies on the course rule). I can see why Jimenez plays there, but the course was too tough for me and I lost my head, temper, confidence and many golf balls. The biggest disappointment was getting hurried of the course at 18:30 for the course to shut with holes still to play and at least an hour’s sunshine left.

Played this course in June09. Quite wet in places due to over watering but generally in good nick. Big drawback is having to stay on buggy paths ( no point in buggies having GPS). This made for a 5 and a half hour round which is totally unacceptable even when your'e not in a rush. The steward that greeted us was Mr self-importance personified. Not expensive to play but would'nt rush back.

Played January 2008 for the 1st time. One of the best courses we played this visit. Excellent condition with many challenging holes. Cheap too about £35 per round including a buggy. Will definitely play there again.
