Villaitana Golf Club (Formerly Real de Faula)
The Levante is a US-style golf course spread out over an area of more than 80 hectares. In classic Nicklaus tradition, it features wide fairways and mounded, rolling, yet inviting putting surfaces. Stretching to more than 7,200 yards, it is a bit of a monster and offers stunning views of the Mediterranean and the Finestrat Mountains.
The 18 hole, par 62 Poniente Course, reaches to 4,219 yards and offers a gently alternative to its sister layout. Set in a picturesque valley of Mediterranean pine and broad views, it is perfect for all levels of golfer and would be a great place for beginners to hone their newly acquired skills.

Having played this course when it was very first opened, I returned this week to find a massive improvement. The fairways and greens had matured impressively and it was a joy to play and excellent value for money at 40 Euros. My one criticism was the areas between green and tee were typically Spanish and un-cared for. If the cosmetics improved here then this is a top class resort course.

Played the Championship (Levante Course) which is a typical Nicklaus Design course, American style with plenty of bunkers and mounds - Having said that, it works well and we enjoyed a challenging round with a feeling of well being on completion.
The whole facility is really good and I recommend it.

2 courses to choose from didnt have time to play the championship course after freak rain! played the shorter par 62. Buggy is included in the price and its justified your up and down to the greens and elevated tee's. The par 3's are long and some as much as 200yds! Its a very technical course and if your in the rough your really in the rough! Its bandit country out there. Which was apt for my playing partner as he but the ball 2ft from the pin on several occasion ( off 22 handicap!)
Overall a great course to play gives plenty to think about.

We stayed here for a week, the accomodation is superb. Staff in the golf club leave a lot to be desired, very slow and inefficient in the pro shop and plain ignorant in the resturant. Lot of work taking place on the course the week we were there, bunkers had been washed out and many out of play, greens were very bumpy, fairways heavily sanded. However we had a great week.
