The Woolston manor course was designed using the natural features of the land, in particular the river Roding which meanders throughout the course.
As you cross the bridges of the sixth hole you can see numerous types of freshwater fish and in the summer butterflies adorn the twelfth hole to put you in a relaxing mood at the start of your round.
Neil Coles MBE and the renowned golf course architect David Williams designed the 18 hole championship golf course which was opened in the spring of 1994 and since that time it has hosted several large tournaments including the final of the Essex leslie Wood Trophy on two occasions and the PGA East Region Assistants Championship.
The course measures 6510 yards from the white tees with a par of 72. Woolston Manor is regarded throughout the southeast as one of our finest courses with some of the most demanding holes, a true golfing challenge. The legendary Gary Player described it as one of the best young courses that he had ever played - praise indeed!
The course is built to USGA specifications with a state of the art irrigation system, generous teeing areas, dramatic bunker shapes, water in play on twelve holes, and is always presented in excellent condition and creates an enjoyable experience for golfers of all abilities.Book a Tee Time

Good all round golf course.
Had a good offer for 18 holes and light lunch, food was excellent and very quick.
The course has a nice mixture of holes, with water coming into play on at least 10 of them, if not more. It is quite narrow in places so if your not straight it can destroy a good score. This is probably one of the tougher course I have played.
As said previously, dont think ive ever seen so many bunkers. Most are massive too but can be avoided generally.
Greens are in good condition, just wish people would repair their pitch marks.

I enjoyed this course very much. the greens and fairways are in good condition, the bunkers are filled with real sand, not mudy or pebbly. If your not very good at bunker play then you'll find this difficult. you need good course management but overall great course.

Very good course, played on a scorching day and the greens were very quick. Lots of interesting hols and some well placed water and bunkers...teh 19th could have been better but all in all highly recommended

Very nice course with plenty of water features which gets you thinking. Tee boxes, fairways, greens and bunkers all in very good condition. We played on a 2 for 1 deal with food included so very good value for money. Can't fault the course. Would definately go back.

had a lovely time, greens quick and good condition, loads of bunkers but every hole was interesting and not an easy put anywhere. a good test of golf

this course is hilly but the fairways and the greens were in great,the way they look after the area is very good,you can book in advance so you get the time you want

Played this a few times now always busy and the condition of the course reflects this overall it seems a bit tired and shabby. The greens need attantion as the course does generally.

Only went to this course as i had a great groupon voucher. If i had paid the £40 i would have been really disappointed. The course is really tough, with the vast majority of the greens well protected by bunkers. Unfortunately most of the bunkers were full to the brim with water, i could understand, but there has been no rain today.
The food was exceptional and really filling. Would only go back on a really good offer.

Played a Twilight round, very disappointed. Understand that we are still in April and that the Greens are still under treatment, but it was a disgrace the condition of greens, all pitted with pitch marks. I could have repaired 20 plus on each green. I was thinking of Membership, but will have to seriously reconsidering. Playing again in 2 weeks so will see if any improvement. Greens at moment, very woolly, have to hit putts very firm to reach the hole. Still a nice course with a good degree of difficulty, just sort the Greens out

A really good, well kept course.
Well worth a visit but take you bunker game with you. I've never seen so many bunkers on a golf course!

A course that makes you think and reward good shots while punishing the wayward. Good greens and they brought the water in play very nicely.

Great course , great setting, Not cheap. The river Roding runs through the course which makes this very tricky. The holes are very long with bunkers everywhere. take a bucket and spade!!!!
