Golf course review of Wollaton Park Golf Club

Not the cheapest of courses, no deals to be had! But if you want to play at one of Nottinghams finest courses then this should be on the list. A well laid out course with some testing holes. Greens were superb when we played, fairways could've done with a sprinkle of water, but still in very good condition... May be a tad on the long side for some player tho and high handicappers may struggle because of it? In some respect its quite reminiscent of the back 9 at the forest of Arden (including the Deer!) Well worth a visit.

A lovely course, with no water to worry about. Very mature and picturesque, its a very nice venue. The clubhouse is nice and friendly and, since 1st Jan 07, all non-smoking. While the main drawback is the price - £40 for pay-and-play golfers, this assures that there is never a problem with slow rounds (even on the loveliest weekend in July, I've rarely had to wait - I've played upwards of 40 rounds there!). Its also just turn-up-and-play, so no booking headaches if you fancy a last minute game. Find a member and you get in for £20 a round. Beware stags though - I lost a couple of balls that landed between the paws of some pretty scary beasts, but a local rule a couple of years ago now helps you keep your round together (although getting your ball back is still down to the bravery of the player!).
