Wimbledon Common Golf Club
The course on the Common, which we share with London Scottish Golf Club, is the second oldest continuing golf course in England and Wales. It was first played on in 1865. It is pre-dated only by Westward Ho in Devon which is about one year older. So it is not surprising the greens are so good - they have had plenty of time to mature.

Delightful course, surrounded by natural common land, close to central London and offering extraordinary value; with greens in excellent condition. A forgiving, bunker free course, shared with dog walkers. Players must wear red.

This is one of three course on the common which is unique only in that it is open to walkers and joggers and dog walkers. Consequently you are often waiting for people to pass before bieng able to take your shot. I think i am right in saying you also must wear a red top, (to differentiate you from the rest)! The one adjacent, Royal Wimbledon, now that is a course worth playing, if you can get on.
