I played this golf club with a golfing society. We were effectively charged £25 per person for the golf (on a week day). I was disappointed with this price, considering that there had been work done recently on the greens and they were covered in sand and bobbly. Indeed, there was more sand on the greens than some of the bunkers! Plenty of divots left unrepaired. The plus point about the course is the scenery - beautiful in places, on the banks of the River Wear. Also, the bridges over some ravines are very well made. A major downside is the amount of blind shots, particularly the last hole. The 16th hole - bit of a farce because it is not clear which green you are shooting for. I would say there are about six good holes on the course. An average course redeemed by the scenery. There are courses in the area in as good condition, at a better price (such as Washington, Hartlepool and Seaton Carew). Bar and catering staff were friendly, downstairs staff not so (bit defensive and smug). Not worth any more than £15 per round. If you have to play it, take the opportunity in an open competition, not rip off prices.

the course was still playing winter tee's in march, the greens were covered in sand, and you were not allowed to play your ball off the fairway's. we had to place it in the semi rough, considering we have not had any really bad weather lately the fairway's were quite dry, the main point was it was like playing a round with BIG BROTHER the members watched your every move and were very quick to let you no that you had done something they did not like
