Designed by English architect Frank Pennink, Vilamoura Old Course was opened in 1969 and was completely refurbished in 1996, when several improvements were introduced and a new clubhouse built. The oldest of the Vilamoura courses, its tree lined fairways and exemplary greens make this layout one of the best in the area. The course is renowned for the way the designer has skilfully utilised the natural contours of the land, whilst maintaining the native vegetation, consisting mainly of pine trees. Beautiful, mature, sweet natured with a sting in the tale from time to time. The oldest of the Oceanico fleet and it is a different type of course with its charm outweighing its gimmicks. Well worth playing and good value for money when compared to the rest of the Oceanico estate.

where do i start just an amazing course not the easiest in the algarve but for me the best bar none with breath taking holes through out which take alot of thinking u cant just pull out the driver all the time as some holes are so well designed. a must play for any serious golf fan ever in the algarve well worth the £100

Played following the driest Feb on record and the couse was in excellent condition (far better than Victoria a mile down the road). The course is tight but interesting and in this condition, the best of the oceanico group. Staff very friendly and helpfull but had to pay for range balls

The mature trees and look of this course make this course a nice place to be. The layout is good with some challenging holes. Good value for money especially paying twilight rates.

Loved this course! Went out in May, the greens were the quickest things I have ever putted on - they were like glass! Great golf course.

From the time you get to the car park, this club treats you well, there is big long buggy to carry you/clubs to the clubhouse, the buggies are washed and cleaned before giving out, people are asked if they would need lift to the town center after the round, the restaurant serves excellent food. For some reasons it was cheaper for us to book a round the previous day, we got it all for 85 euros with the buggy and it was just a bargain for such a fantastic course. Enough said about the course before me :-)

The highlight of 3 days golf in Spain - Greens excellent and were probably running about 12 on the stimp meter - watch out for the 1st green its lightening!

Best greens in the Algarve. The Old course is a beautiful tree-lined course with very well designed holes. I must say the weather was also a big factor to an awesome day!!!

This is where I fell in love with golf. Absolutely loved it and the bug got me!!!! Melon with a club sandwich was also interesting!!! The greens were like marble and the fairways like wembley. Picture perfect and for once my golf alsmost matched!!

Great course to walk. Not to far between tees and greens. Super condition and great visually to play although sometimes on the fairay your still blocked out by trees on roue to green.

Top parkland course with some amazing Augusta like holes. Good clubhouse, ideal for a welcome beer after a game in the Portuguese sunshine.

A fantastic visual course. Fairways are lined with many mature trees but for the earlier holes these are set far enough back to give you enough space for a slightly wayward drive. many holes use the hilly terrain well with some excellent veiws down from raised tee boxes.
