Will not revisit, pace of play slow and not monitored, 50 euros for a buggy and 20 euros to use the practice ground. V average course, clinical service and only real interest is taking your money

I thought the course would be in better conditions especially the greens. Expensive. Better courses in the area.

I must be the odd one out as I can't see what all the fuss is about. About 10 of the 18 holes have elevated greens and you seem to spend most of the round hitting uphill. Long walks between green and tee (verging on the ridiculous on the Royale !). There is no rough and the fairways lack definition. Sorry not for me !

Good Course, currently spoiled a little by some road work in a housing estate. Greens are lightning quick and fairways are excellent. The price though is far too expensive, as are a lot of courses in Portugal. The fact that it ran through some housing does put me off, that along with the price.

Royal - challenging course played as a twighlight round. Greens very fast but true. Fairways in good condition. Long walks between tees across roads and through housing detract from the experience. Physically quite demanding.

Royal course - hole 16 is probably the most photographed in Portugal, and seems to appear in every golf holiday brochure (200M par 3 along the edge of a cliff).

Many of the other holes are very enjoyable to play, but not as picturesque. In fact probably 14 of them have out of bounds left, right and behind the green, so you could be anywhere on the course. This rake of holes in the midst of identical trees meant it was not as enjoyable as I thought it would be.

Greens were true but not particularly quick. We were only allowed to take the buggies onto the fairways because the previous days rounds were taking over 6 hours (as told to me by a club member), and it was the only way to speed things up. Even so we kept getting pestered by marshalls despite waiting for every shot because we had nowhere to go.

It's a great course and a good test of golf, but they're trying to get too many people on the course! Get ready for a slow round if you're booked to play here!

They are doing extensive renovations to the course at the moment, which means you're playing in and out of builders rubble.

Wouldn't be so bad if they reduced the fees at this time, but no chance. Far tooooooooo pricey for what you get.

A challenging course, normally in fair to good condition. Pace of play can be slow, but more important lots of long walks between tees and very hilly. This is a buggy course. There is no practice range for visitors, just a couple of nets.

Don't think about carrying unless young and fit. Has some very nice holes and signature 16th across the cliffs. Some strategic water protection to keep you guessing..

Excellent Condition. Stunning views on a few holes

One of the best kept courses in the Algarve. Earlybird specials on Teetimes.pt
The signature #16 has stunning views. Lots of sand on all the holes but it's white powder like Florida in the USA. It's a long course. I don't recommend walking it. It also has a lot of hills. The tee boxes were sandy on 28-2-2024 but still in decent shape overall. There is quite a bit of water also, along with several bottlenecks in the fairways that come into play demanding a well placed tee shot.

Disappointing Return

Having not played the course for many years I was looking forward to my round, mainly to play the Royal course but we played the Ocean on the day the round however was spoilt by a course marshal who I suggest should receive some training who had no clue on course management or customer service.

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole ambience of the clubhouse and Ocean course. A couple of negatives in that the pace of play was horrendous and people didn’t rake the bunkers or repaired pitch marks on the greens.
