With its small greens and tight lines, the course is a fine test of golf for the low handicapper whilst providing the high handicapped player with a variety of options at each hole.Excellent putting surfaces and manicured fairways, uniform rough and extensive views across the Dove Valley to the rolling hills of Staffordshire and Derbyshire all collude to intensify the sheer joy of just being there.Book a Tee Time

Lovely parkland course set in hilly countryside, rewarding the straight hitter. Some super views. We found most of the holes were interesting and diverse with something for everyone including a drivable par 4.
Layout of the course well suited to terrain and mature trees. Some longish par fours and nice par threes, especially the stunning 12th. Probably hard to score well at first visit with a lot of blind shots but course cards available to help.
We found the condition of the course excellent, especially given all the recent heavy rain. Fairways very good and greens very well kept. Take a bow groundstaff.
Course was empty when we played but some patience would been needed on a busy day with all the blind shots and some necessary and sensible prioritisation of playing order where tees and greens are close together.
Club house and pro shop staff very pleasant and helpful.
All in all, a delightful golf experience. will be coming again and highly recommenced. excellent value at £14 albeit with a 2 for 1.

Course is alright, very tight and most shots are blind. A fair few fore shouts are heard during the round. Buggy is needed as it is very up and down. Good views for certain parts of the course. Greens were slow with debris on the surface, & most tees aren't flat. Apart from that a golf course if no where else is open to play. Enjoy.

Tight, short, don't take your driver! Emphasis is on accuracy all the way round. A cracking challenge played alongside the race course and into the hills. Almost every hole a challenge and owners who seem to be investing well. Recommended for anyone who wants to sharpen their short game or anyone with a straight game wanting to show a long hitter a thing or two! First few holes are a little too close but the course is worth a try; it's the type of course you want to play again as soon as you've finished to save those 10 shots!

Cracking little course in excellent condition when we played today. Probably helped somewhat by being allowed to slot in at the lunch break of the Staffs v Notts county match so the course was in immaculate condition but I can't see it being much worse at other times. Only small gripe was a temporary tee on the 18th (not for the whites) but it seems to be for ongoing drainage work. Still £15 on a 2 fore 1 was excellent value.
This is a roller coaster of a course, I've never seen so many marker post for blind tee and second shots so having someone with a bit of course knowledge did help. Most of the course seems to be based around a deep gully which has to be played over or round on virtuallty every hole, which means lots of elevation changes. Greens were fast, responsive and very consistent, and almost impossible to read with subtle contours. Particular favourite was the 172, par 3, 12th with a massive drop from tee to green and water on one side. Although I wouldn't say you don't need to take a driver unless you're very accurate it won't help an awful lot, course management is the key to this place.
Only slightly bizzare aspect was the horse show at the adjacent racecourse - teeing off to the James Bond theme and 'the stripper' blasting over the tannoy is an interesting experience...

An interesting, short course, its definately one where you can't just take out your driver at any par 4/5. The views are lovely and there's plenty of options on most holes. Its a bit up and down, so the cart we had was definately worthwhile. When we played (a grey, damp, April day) the greens were a little slow, and on-course facilities (ball cleaners, toilets, half-way-house (none)) were absent but it was an enjoyable course to play. The rules on dress and a bit bizarre - signs are there to say that you can't change your shoes in the carpark, and that clubs are not left in the cars (this looks more like a sign to the local would-be club thiefs!) but its was pleasant enough in the 19th afterwards (and the food was cheap and looked good). Definately one I'd play again, and I think you could choose a number of strategies each time you play.

good course in good condition. first few holes run along or have views of the racecourse then a couple of long uphill holes follow and take you into the wooded back 9.
